I recently dined at Fed and decided to try their set menu. The experience had its ups and downs, starting with the chickpea fritter, which was a solid dish. It was well-executed, with flavors that worked together nicely, though nothing particularly stood out.
The pork croquette, served alongside the fritter, was underwhelming. It wasn’t bad, but it lacked anything special. The spiced apple chutney on top was too sweet for my taste, making the whole dish feel one-dimensional.
Next came Fed’s bread, which was fresh but slightly too salty for my liking. The butter didn’t add much to the experience, and it was paired with a beetroot dish that felt basic and a bit off, not something I particularly enjoyed.
The roasted chicken, however, was the highlight of the meal. It looked dry at first, but turned out to be incredibly juicy and tender, with seasoning that was spot-on. The peri peri sauce that accompanied it was delicious and really elevated the dish. This was easily my favorite part of the set menu.
The pumpkin dish that came with the chicken wasn’t for me, I’m not a fan of pumpkin, but it seemed well-prepared. The sauce and nuts at the bottom were a nice touch, adding some depth to the dish.
The rice and grains dish was also quite good, though the portions were a bit small. The grains on top added great texture and flavor, making it a pleasant addition to the chicken.
Dessert was a mixed bag. The snake fruit cake was an interesting idea, but the snake fruit itself didn’t appeal to me. The cake, however, was well-made. The jasmine custard was delightful, though the passion fruit on the side was too sour and clashed with the custard’s sweetness.
Service was adequate, we were welcomed and seated promptly, but nothing about it stood out as exceptional.
The restaurant’s location is appealing, with a nice aesthetic and plenty of parking available. However, the overall experience felt overpriced at 480k per person, especially given the smaller portions. While I enjoyed some aspects of the meal, I wouldn’t be inclined to pay that price again. A range of 250k-350k per person would seem more reasonable for what was offered.
Overall, Fed offers a decent dining experience, but the value didn’t quite match the...
Read morewent for the set menu of 8 dishes with a friend. we were served 4 starters (1 of them was bread), 1 main, and 2 sides. the food were on the salty side. we were very disappointed with the variety of food that came with the set menu, which were all items we could order a la carte. adding up the individual menu items were cheaper than ordering the set menu. we expressed our utter disappointment the set menu only had 1 main dish. the whole point of the set menu was to try more items, which is usually the better option for 2 people. they said the main dish is a bigger portion, but it still didn't make up for the price difference. We would have MUCH preferred to order 2 mains to try between the 2 of us. totally defeated the purpose of the set menu. The drinks were ok, but too sweet. the waitress did share our disappointment with the chef in the kitchen, but no one came back to share anything with us. They just didn't care since we are tourists. They also mixed up our water (we got 1 still and 1 sparkling) so service is not there. For reference, I had a big group dinner at Merah Putih the night after and the set menu was cheaper and so much better. Service was good and the atmosphere was also much much nicer. Absolutely horrible value and...
Read more5 star food, but 2 star service. When we arrived, we were told the only available seating was outside on the noisy in Jalan Kunti street facing a grocery store parking lot. We respectfully declined and said we would come back another time. We walk all the way back to the parking lot, put on the motorbike helmets, and the girl comes running out “OK we found a table”. This is a small place. There’s only 8 tables in the entire restaurant. So they found a table 15 seconds after rejecting us and sending us outside. Bad service. We ordered drinks. My partners drink was delivered to the table next to us and sat there in front of another patron for a while before a young man walked over and simply moved the drink from the neighboring table to our table. Again, this place is not large, and there were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant at the time. How difficult is it to put the drink in front of the right customer instead of the wrong customer and let it sit there? They charge for the table water, but they do not refill. They refilled the tables around us, but they never walked over to our table. Some basic staff training is desperately needed. The food was good, but the poor service spoiled the...
