Overly focused on the 'RESERVE' they missed the basic service
Well I will not review from architecture point of view since this is not Arc Digest, overall in a glance was all amazing from the second you step into the area, outside to inside (despite several flaws)
They gave serious effort to implement the 'Dewata' into realization, š2 Thumbs UPš for that
The only Sbux store in Bali with plenty of toilet including the disability toilet...and with indoor AC š Amazing!!!
I tried several beverages just to try out their barista skill and pretty amazed and assured that these barista were no newbies, they made everything to the excellent standard of Sbux
My dislike from the opening day was: I expected all the barista were all well trained ones, but one of the barista gave me an incorrect information about the ingredients of the pie served and for a company as big as sbux this was a huge mistake especially when involving F&B. Since they did not put label on the tray for the canape (it was pie, or sort of) I asked one of the nearest barista for the ingredient and he said oh it's just vegetable, which apparently when I asked the other barista who happened to have a tray of the same pie on her hand, and I asked the same question, and she told me it was some vegetable and also contains chicken in it. So, dear Supervisor for this reserve sbux, please highlight this in your future training, not to mis-inform future customers because it might do bad thing for the customers' diet
Have they tasted the pies or quiches before they served it? Because I suspected, just by the look of it, it was not well baked, just by looking at the pale looking crust and by the time i tasted it, i can confirm it, yup.. Need more time in the oven.... (Where's the QC guy when you need them š®)
I asked about the 2x - 3x star reward for the opening week to the barista at the cashier and he had zero clue about it, meanwhile i received the newsletter about it this afternoon. Well he was smart enough to ask to reconfirm, still the update info was still NO such promotion. Word of advise, send a copy of each newsletter to the supervisor to be read or briefed to staff at their opening shift briefing or for the editor of the newsletter to double check the information to avoid future discrepancy of information and customer's disappointment.
But despite of all above, I am so grateful for this Reserve store in Bali, and giving Bali another must visit landmark in Kuta area.
Bravo Starbucks, and please keep up the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStarbucks Reserve Dewata, located in Bali, is a standout destination that merges coffee culture with Balinese design traditions in a remarkable architectural form. Designed collaboratively by MAD Architects, ARA Studio and Starbucks Hongkong, the project was completed in 2018.
The architectural team blended modern design elements with local aesthetics, reflecting the rich cultural and natural environment of Bali. The space captures the islandās spirit with its open, airy layout, designed to let natural light in and create a relaxed, tropical atmosphere.
The interior features a variety of art installations that enhance the overall experience. MAKNA Creative, BYO Living, and Alur Bamboo contributed to the interior, art and installations, creating a space where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary design. The use of bamboo, a sustainable and locally-sourced material, is particularly notable. It is used throughout the space to create organic, flowing structures that mimic Baliās natural landscape and architecture, reinforcing the connection to the local environment.
The integration of nature is a key design principle at Starbucks Dewata. The cafĆ© includes a lush courtyard, open-air seating, and green walls that bring the outdoors in, making the space feel both connected to nature and deeply rooted in Balinese culture. This approach is further amplified by the incorporation of water features, local stone, and other natural materials, all of which contribute to a tranquil yet sophisticated atmosphere that celebrates Baliās tropical environment.
Beyond its function as a coffeehouse, Starbucks Reserve Dewata serves as an immersive space for visitors to learn about the coffee-making process. The design blends education, culture, and hospitality, offering a multi-sensory experience. The careful integration of local craftsmanship and modern architecture makes this Starbucks Reserve a unique, destination-worthy space that highlights the beauty of Balinese design traditions within a contemporary global...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUNBELIEVABLE RUDITY AND LACK OF CONFIDENCE! I'm a very loyal and excited fan of Starbucks. Everywhere in the world wherever I go , I first want to know where the closest Starbucks is. I'm in Bali now and was very excited to know that there's a Starbucks Reserve just a 15 minute walk from my hotel. I reach there very excited, the entire property (stand alone) is just theirs, get more excited. And then the security guy just bursts my balloon of excitement. So it seems you can't take your own bottle of water in there. I'm going to Starbucks reserve, I'll be spending a lot of money , I know and am very ok with that but to confiscate my bottle of water is just CHEAP! Have been living in NYC since 2001 and I simply love the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the west village in Manhattan. I visit it at leat 3 times a week since it opened in December 2018 , never have I once been stopped from taking a bottle of water or anything for that matter. I visited the Starbucks Reserve in Mumbai last week and even there I wasnt stopped from getting water! Bali Starbucks Reserve need to have more confidence in their customers and finances, not allowing me a bottle of water shows how utterly INSECURE they are! Please STOP checking bags of people like the airports, it just makes you look very very LOW! Nowhere else in Bali , even the tiny little cafes , which actually need that everything even water should be bought from them have ever stopped us. But Starbucks stops us from getting water? Please don't do this, it's just very, very CHEAP! Okay so I've returned to thos location again today and got to know that even though you order from "reserve" section , you will NOT be served. NYC they serve, Mumbai they do, Dubai they do, what's special with Bali????!! Otherwise it's a very cool large spacious space with all the goodies Starbucks has to offer! Krishna the Barista at the Reserve counter is one...
