Malbourne Coffee Co — Restaurant in Malang

I discovered that place 15 month ago and it is my go to for great coffee drinks. In fact wanted to set a review a few days back with a 5 star till…today. In terms of coffee, great choices depending on the drink you choose. I discovered their Blueberry Forest and clearly a really must try. The flavor is surreal and addictive. Now what happens today was as surreal. Had been in the afternoon sometime and not shocked by having music set at these time over the weekend. Now having a roaster coffee shop transformed into a disco at 10 am, is clearly not what i expect of a roaster coffee shop. Yes, nice music is great and I could have asked to reduce music volume, but is it not the job of the team to know what to do? You must choose what you want to be: A great Co-working space with a coffee roaster experience or a disco place from 8:00 to 22:00. Now the next issue, which in fact had never been an issue till today..Smoking ! Till now well educated smokers had set in the 2 area around the outside or into closed rooms. Yes you see them but do not affect your drinking experience. This time smokers seating in the main room had made my experience a disaster. The taste of the coffee which I wanted to “enjoy” was not great today (completely different to what i used to appreciate) and even my wife could smell cigarette on my clothe when i came back, despite me trying to find a place away from these guys… Really a pity, I still put 4 as the team is awesome and the coffee are great ; but please define who you are...

Have been trying their several different menus and here's my top three so far: Iced hojicha; it's creamy and thick, the flavour is quite deep, not overly sweet－just a perfect bittersweet combination French fries with this yellow sauce and mozzarella (I forgot the actual name in the menu 😂); because cheese will never be wrong! Beef kebab; the sauce is exceptional!

Unfortunately, I can't give any review about their coffee because tbh my body cannot 'cooperate' at all with any coffee intake, but I can still say this is a nice place to spend the time. The place is not really wide but it's super cozy and calmingーsuch a perfect workspace. Not too crowded but it's not empty either. Staffs and owner are very humble and friendly, and they will explain anything if you ask them about the menu. Hands down, this is one of the best cafés in Malang! The place is spotless, cozy, and their coffee is most definitely the best in town. You can really tell that every staff member and barista here is highly capable and passionate about serving a perfect cup — from preparation to presentation, everything is done with care.

What truly amazed me, though, was their kindness and professionalism. Yesterday, my child had an unfortunate incident and threw up inside the café. Without hesitation or a hint of disgust, the staff immediately stepped in, helped us, and cleaned up quickly. It wasn’t just about great coffee — it was about genuine hospitality.

Highly recommend this place not only for the amazing coffee but also for the incredible people behind it.
