Ok... Normally I got disappointed when I visit western food dining in Manado. But this place turned out to be the most delightful western meal I had in my entire 3 years residency here. Thanks to Chef Muyisa :) Menu is very concise and focused. There are several premium items listed and chef signature dishes. It appears that this place is not trying to please everybody and the chef knows what he is doing. First we order beers: they only have Bintang and Anker BUT VERY IMPORTANT: THEY SERVED IT PROPERLY. The beers are ice cold and the glassware were chilled. It was very refreshing, best beer in entire Manado. Our appetizer came: chips and dips and we ordered chef signature salad. The chip & dip is very simple but tasty. The nachos were properly fried, crispy and lightly salted. The salsa roja taste very delicious, one might be fooled of the appearance, or even question 'only one dip?' It is more than enough. We didn't even need to dip the nachos too much in the salsa because it is so darn good. Taste very Mexican but yet there is a hint of Indonesian twist in it, spicy enough for chili lover like myself. Very tasty. The chef signature salad was a bomb of flavors and textures. Fresh curly lettuce, mixed with cherry tomatoes, matchstick carrot, ribboned cucumber, sliced olives, cubed cheese, and topped with lightly seasoned boiled egg and crispy nachos strips with enough house made dressing to compliment the vegetables flavor without overwhelming it. Perfect appetizer. Refreshing and delicious. These appetizers works like appetizer should be, making us excited and, oddly enough, hungry for the main course. We ordered chef signature dishes for our main when we are midway with our appetizers. And ordered another bottle of Bintang after we finished our appetizer. The waiter politely offered to fetch us new chilled glassware for our second beer (thank you!) which we gladly took. Our main dishes were Beef Rizek and Bohemian Beef Steak. Both are the result of Chef work experience and adventure with flavor in Eastern Europe. He brought it back and twist it into his own signature dish. Bohemian Beef Steak was very good meal. 250gr of local beef grilled into medium done level topped with cheese and sauce. Balanced flavor and textures with the fresh side salad and potato wedge. The sauce was well seasoned and slightly tangy. Pairs well with the big steak without overwhelming the tender flavor of the meat. I tasted my partner dish: Beef Rizek. It is deep fried steak with creamy potato with mushroom sauce served with side salad. The steak is still tender and juicy inside and crisp outside. The creamy potato was well seasoned, not boring at all. Mushroom sauce was served separate upon our request (we are used to eatery with overflowing sauce which we don't like) but my partner end up use all of the sauce just because it pairs well with the steak and it is not too much of sauce. In overall we had really good time and meal there. We chatted with Chef too and he is friendly and very open for input and improvements. They apparently also available for private party service. Well done! Will come again next time to try the...
Read moreFirst time here, recommended by a friend. The Google review was fantastic so we decided to give it a try.
We ordered Bohemian Beef Steak and Rizek Beef. Both came with a salad, potato and plenty of sauce on top. The beef was covered with a thin crispy layer which was unusual for a steak.
Anyway, here's my honest opinion: the steak was well-done, maybe it's my fault that we didn't ask for medium, or maybe this menu was always served well-done. It's understandable that the people in Manado don't really eat Steak medium rare. For the taste, we prefer the Bohemian Steak over the tenderloin Rizek beef.
Secondly, I think the salad was too much and the potato was too less. I couldn't finish the salad, which is not normal for me (I always try to finish my food).
The sauce was amazing though. Whatever the sauce is, it was really good.
All in all, we would come back here when we visit Manado next time. There are not many decent restaurants in Manado and this is one of our top recommended places to eat...
