The boss is Alfian is usually along and is perpetually smiley and friendly to familiar faces. The place is located at a corner of a busy main road so parking needs attendant assistance. You can find the place by following the tantalising smoke trail to their satay grill which is placed outside.
Yes the place is charmingly old in a legacy (not decrepit) kind of way. Its is normally busy across the day so just walk in and try and find a seat either at regular tables or the ambings (the kind where you sit on a raised platform). Locals prefer the latter as its typical to hangout and catchup after a meal. Yes there is a bit a a waiting time but its part of eating there. You can expect about 15minutes not the hours that some reviews indicate. After all, its not a fine dining restaurant. Learn to be patient and soak in the environment while waiting.
As a foreigner, I find the sate rembiga and sate pusut spicy..sometimes too much for me, but its all flavor packed and authentic at a reasonable price. Both are highly recomended and the plecing is a staple. I suggest trying the satay hati as well. Thats a winner.

Read moreA signature dish of Mataram, made from skewered pieces of beef, marinated with spicy sauces (that makes the sate really spicy it burns on your tongue). Unlike sate in Java island, the sate rembiga is a dry type, that does not come with sauce. Pair it with their ribcage beef type of soup for those prefer their sate to be a little bit watery. Steamed cake rice or just simply steamed rice for the carbo while eating the sate must be ordered separately. Beverages are standard for this type of eatery (tea, juices). The eatery provides several type of sate, but their specialty is this sate rembiga. The eatery can accommodate up to 50-60 people, but it does not have air conditioned room (electric fan is available). The parking lot is available, but it can only accommodate 5 medium car at the least. Some souvenir seller are on the stand by in the property to cater for people looking to buy cheap pearls...
Read moreOne of… sorry, might be the best Rembiga Beef Skewer Restaurant around Mataram, Lombok. Often considered as The Pioneer of Sate Rembiga, the restaurant offers more than that, buch of Lombok dishes are also available in the menu for the guests to choose from. As for the taste, especially the sate rembiga - I went for this, when I was here - is exceptional, the meat is tender and juicy enough, and the seasoning/sauce used to grill the sate is just delicious with spicy aftertaste. Go for it. As the other menu, I only went for Pelecing Kangkung, also comes with decent taste. The good news is all of those goodness is not gonna make the wallet cries, as the price is quite affordable.
Place is decent, staffs are okay-ish, and helpful. Definitely will come back again for more next time I visit Lombok again. Oh, and please be advised, that it’s better not to visit during meals time, especially on...
