I recently had the pleasure of trying nasi champur, a traditional Balinese dish, at Medaran restaurant, and I have to say, I was impressed. Nasi champur is a mixed rice dish that is typically served with a variety of side dishes, and this particular version did not disappoint.
The dish consisted of a generous serving of fluffy, fragrant rice, topped with several small portions of different side dishes. These included flavorful chicken satay skewers, tender shredded chicken in a rich curry sauce, tuna sate lilit with a sweet and savory sauce, and a refreshing vegetable salad with a tangy dressing.
Each of the side dishes was expertly prepared and full of bold flavors. The chicken satay had a smoky flavor and was perfectly seasoned, while the shredded chicken in curry sauce was tender and flavorful without being too spicy. The vegetable salad was a refreshing contrast to the other dishes, and the tangy dressing added a nice kick of flavor.
Overall, the nasi champur was a delicious and satisfying meal that showcased the best of Balinese cuisine. The combination of flavors and textures was well-balanced, and each dish was expertly prepared. The portion size was generous and provided a great value for the price.

Read moreDefinitely worth eating here if you’re in Nusa Penida. Best Balinese dishes we had so far in our 14 days route around Indonesia. Everything is cooked with local ingredients from the island. The service was outstanding and it was nice to meet the chef & owner. The place is outside of the main road and it’s surrounded of an enchanting garden with a quiet and relaxing music and atmosphere! Thank you Yogi and the team! Ps: The only area where we felt there could be some improvement is in the desserts. While this has been a general trend in Indonesia so far, we believe there’s potential to elevate them with the incredible variety of fruits available on the island. I trust Yogi’s creativity which will make it even more...

We ended up at this restaurant completely by chance after a long, tiring day at the beach — it was conveniently close to our hotel. What a lucky find! The place was empty, which is a real shame because the décor, music, and overall vibe were just perfect. Cozy, tasteful, and inviting.
The staff were relaxed, chatting and laughing among themselves, which added a nice, warm energy to the place. The menu had a great variety of local dishes at very affordable prices. And the food… absolutely delicious! You can tell everything is made with fresh ingredients and lots of love.
I can’t recommend this place enough. Truly hope it gets the recognition and success...
