Afu Chicken Rice — Restaurant in Pontianak

First things first — even though it’s called "Nasi Ayam" (“Chicken Rice"), this dish also comes with pork, just so you know.

It’s basically a Nasi Campur, kinda similar to Nasi A**, but with a different flavor profile. Which one’s better? Totally depends on your taste. From what I tried, the meat toppings at Afu have a sweeter flavor. I personally like it! But if you’re more into salty or savory stuff, you might find the sweetness a bit too much. That’s not to say it’s not savory — Afu’s chicken rice is definitely savory too — but there’s a noticeable sweet note in there. Again, it all comes down to personal preference.

Only one downside: We only got some tiny pieces of the crispy pork topping. But maybe that’s because we came around 7 PM, so they might’ve run out?

Price-wise, it’s cheaper than the one we got in the other place. One portion costs IDR 45K. Hey, maybe that’s why the crispy pork was so little? Who knows.

Service was friendly and fast. The place is semi-indoor, open to the street. It’s just an 8-minute walk from Gajah Mada Avara Hotel. The spot was pretty packed with customers. And around the front of the restaurant and along the street, there are tons of other food stalls that open in...

So far, this has to be the best nasi campur I’ve had in Pontianak. I’ve tried a few different places, but this one really stood out. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced—rich, savory, and just the right amount of seasoning. It wasn’t overly salty or sweet, but somehow everything just came together perfectly. The kind of taste that really hits your mouth in all the right ways.

You can tell they really pay attention to quality and detail here, both in how the food is prepared and how it’s served. It’s not just a random mix of meats over rice. It actually feels thoughtful and deliberate, like every part of the plate is meant to elevate the whole.

Came here and order 1 meal : nasi campur. I can say this is very very good, the topping is very generous, roasted pork (siobak), chasiu, roasted chicken, pork sausage (lapchiong), sliced cucumber, salted vegetable. All with the thick gravvy (very typical ponti style of nasi campur).

The balance of sweet and umami. Contrast texture from the rice and gravvy. Me very likey n will recommend to other friends.
