We came here after seeing a review video on YouTube. :)
The main highlight at this spot is Chaikue — a traditional savory snack made with a thin rice flour skin and various fillings. But they also serve a few other food and drink options.
It’s only about a 10-minute walk from Hotel Gajah Mada Avara, so super convenient if you're staying nearby.
We ordered both steamed and fried Chaikue. There are four filling options: jicama, garlic chives, taro, and peanuts. We went with the jicama and garlic chives. There’s a minimum order of 5 pieces per type (steamed or fried). The steamed ones are IDR 2K each, and the fried ones are IDR 3K.
Interestingly, unlike the review we watched, we actually preferred the steamed version. Our favorite was the steamed jicama — it had a nice savory flavor and a bit of crunch from the jicama. The garlic chives one was tasty too.
Overall, the flavor was solid — savory, a bit oily (in a good way) with a generous drizzle of sesame oil and a topping of crispy fried garlic.
You can dine in or take your order to go. The place is semi-indoor — it has a roof but open walls facing the street, and no air conditioning. We came around 6 PM and it wasn’t...
Read moreVery good food. We enjoy the eating there. The staff speaks was helpfull and speak english. You order in the standard way so just writw down on the paper the quatity of the food that you want to order. On the left side you can find the price. It is not cheap as for Indonesia style, but food is very good so for european for sure it will be not an issue. Try to eat the different types of dumplings. They are tasty and good looking. We eat also the Nasi Goreng in theirs style which were different that original but very good. The juice that we drink is not the best one so you can skip and just order water. Summarize the place is very good and I can recomend it for eating. Close to this place is also cathedral that you can visit after lunch. It was close but even from outside you can still visit a lot. Last thing becarefull with sambal. It this place is really spicy, so even if you like spicy check it before you will add everything to your meal. Aftet the food everything was allright with us. It is quite important because if you will see the eating place in Pontianak you could be suprise a...

Sadaappp...
