The local traditional Restaurant which is unique popular among tourist visitor. To reach this restaurant is not so easy because this location is far about 16 km away from the heart of the City of Yogyakarta exactly placed in a Kampong /Village of Prambanan on the River side Kali Opak as the name Kali Opak Resto, we have to drive through the narrowed winding road of the village but it's beautiful landscape. If you have visiting the Prambanan Temple site in the morning until midday this place is the right choice for your lunch just need take 5 minutes from the temple side following the small road beside the Temple to western, passing the Dewata hotel straight until the second small bridge of the river then turn to the left enter the Kampong. And you will find some travel agent coach's parking nearby the Kali Opak Resto, the breeze wind while you're waiting for your food,...looking down to the river Opak the local people sometime the tourists swimming there between the big stone in the River. The Chef recommend food is Snapper Fish BBq, or Grill Gurame Fish with soya sauce, onion, and lemon. Young coconut water as your drink to repel your thirst. The price is worthy for such food, reasonable . You can order a La Carte, as well as Set Menu. for Set Menu minimum 4 Paxs, IDR...

We had a wonderful dining experience at this traditional Indonesian restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the charming and authentic atmosphere. The architecture, decor, and overall design of the place beautifully reflect the local culture, creating an immersive and welcoming setting for a meal. It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking to enjoy a genuine Indonesian culinary experience in a cozy and picturesque location.

The service was truly excellent — all the staff members were incredibly polite, attentive, and friendly. They took the time to explain the different dishes on the menu, and their recommendations were spot on. We felt well taken care of throughout the entire meal.

Speaking of the menu, it was very extensive and offered a wide variety of traditional dishes, from flavorful soups and grilled meats to vegetarian options and delicious desserts. Everything we tried was fresh, well-cooked, and rich in authentic flavors. The spices and ingredients were clearly high quality and skillfully balanced.

We also appreciated the cleanliness of the place and the peaceful ambience — a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal away from the busier tourist areas.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to discover true Indonesian cuisine in a...

Quite decent!

Pretty place with a beautiful river, traditional wooden furniture and building- a little eerie in a good way at night. Be sure to see the river out back if during the day. The food is decent and the staff very, very nice. A few mosquitoes, yes, but can ask for mosquito repellent incense. It is an open air restaurant by a river so yes, nature does exist.

The price expensive? Lol. Please. 35,000 Rp can get fried rice or noodles, soup and a drink plus nice ambience... 70,000 Rp can get rice, a protein like fish, chicken or tempe, vegetables, soup and non-alcoholic beverage plus a beautiful ambience. Not expensive, but of course it depends on your budget. I would say it is mid range. Of course, one can eat gross, not-nutritious, preservative and MSG laden street food elsewhere for 6,000 rp or eat at a high-end, air conditioned, sealed restaurant for 200,000+ rp per person. This is decent mid-range resto with convenient location near Prambanan and a beautiful riverside location. Given its traditional setting, it is far from a...

Touristy place. Tourist price. Paid 33k rupiah for a cup of hot ginger tea which wasn't that bad but defo not your Jogja price. Barely sat down and straight away a waiter came to ask what drinks i'd want. Started out by asking in Indonesian. Guy "supposedly" didnt understand. Fine, switched to English. Then kept asking what food I wanted before I had time to browse the menu. He then recommended the fish which since I arrived alone, then asked how large is the fish to which he said (to what I heard as 5 pounds) and good for 1 or 2 or 3 people. So decided not to get that and said I needed more time. When I saw the table beside mine had a fan I asked for it. He left without taking my order and never came back to ask me for my order. Saw the same waiter finish taking orders from another table, and walking around...saw that said table chowing down on their food. Ginger tea came, was there sipping my tea for 20minutes before I texted my driver that i want to leave. Didn't manage to order anything else before making my mind up to leave.

After our visit to Prambanan temple, and being unfamiliar with the local dining scene, we asked our guide for a lunch suggestion. He recommended Kali Opak Resto, which appears to cater primarily to tourists. The food was generally acceptable, and the service was prompt and efficient. However, the prices felt somewhat elevated, perhaps reflecting its convenience as a guide-recommended stop. A definite highlight is the lovely setting, with pleasant outdoor seating right by the river, nestled against the forest. While it's a convenient option for a quick meal, especially if you're with a guide, those seeking a more authentic local culinary experience or exceptional value might consider other choices.
