This place is terrible.

Service crew lacks standard.

Dish was wrongly served and at the end, the fish that we ordered did not come.

We waited two hours for the fish. At the end, after we finish eating all the dishes and waited on the fish (checked with the staff), they realised that the fish was not served and told us we could not cancel it. But we told them we have waited so long even after finishing the food and yet they left out the order. However, the service crew was rude to us by saying in what position are we to tell them to cancel and the lady boss rejected to cancel it even it was not served.

The service lady mentioned there is drunken prawn and when we ordered and served, the prawn came was steam and the service crew lied that it was drunken prawn. We did not pursue further.

The more messed up part is that the crew went to cook a fish right after we were settling the bill. And they serve us when we are at the counter. The lack of experience and bad training and attitude by the service crew is an extremely disappointing. We ended up paying for the fish but it is not a matter about the payment but about the experience.

Turns out other tables are facing the same issue with the wrong bill and tables with food that waited 2+ hours for food and vegetable even though the place was barely packed.

Came here via private hired car. Grab maybe difficult to get to return to the city. Reached at 330pm. Surprisingly the breeze is nice and not hot/humid feeling. No mozzy at this hour.

Chili pepper crab is too spicy to our liking. Smaller than I thought even though it’s big size. Salted egg prawn : too little salted egg taste but fried till very crispy that you almost can eat the whole thing without removing the shells. Red snapper steam thai style: the nicest of all: mild spiciness and mild sourness and it’s very appetising. Rice is foc. Overall food is very fresh.

Environment is pretty with some decoration for you to take photos. Can see the owner put in effort for that.

I am a constant supporter of Citra Utama whenever I come to Batam from Singapore. The tipping point is when I visited them on 31st May, with my usual action of picking what I want manually, and ordered the fish to be cooked sweet and sour style.

Despite the fish came out what I wanted, the fish tasted as if it is cooked from frozen fish, when it is supposed to be fresh as it is still alive when I caught it. I spoke to the boss of the restaurant about this and he is adamant about the fact that quality has dropped drastically. Even to the point of questioning his integrity.

To make it worst, he is charging me 375kRP/kg for the fish when it is usually 285kRP/kg. Even though it is not a lot of $ for me, it make me felt stupid.
