Kopak Jaya Kelong is really far, same area as Barelang Bridge & Harris Hotel Barelang. You can see the Hotel from the Kelong itself.
We arrived on Xmas, without prior booking. We were informed that due to peak period food will arrive about an hr. We got seated, the view was amazing, the ambience was relaxing eventhough there were so many people.
We decided on Ikan Siakap 3 rasa (seabass, 3 spices), they ran out of grouper (Ikan Gerapu), Prawn Cereal (Udang Nestum), Chicken Soup (Sup Ayam), Stir-fry Kailan, 2 KG Gong Gong, Sotong Cabe Asin (Spicy Salted Squid), 5 portions plain rice, 5 ice lemon. All in Large sizes dish. The bill rank up to a little over 1 Mil Rupiah, which about SGD98.
All the dish are tasty, fresh, worth the money except for Sotong Cabe Asin (Spicy Salted Squid), all we could taste was the batter & chili powder. The meat/flesh was so tiny, it was fried for too long cause it was so hard to chew, almost rock hard.
The toilet, you might want to empty your baldder elsewhere cos it's not really a good sight but it's acceptable.
I will definitely return again cause i love the atmosphere but of course will never order the Sotong Cabe Asin (Spicy...
Read moreNot worth it just to take a partial bridge photos at night from the Kelong. The atmoshere was hot (No fan) but brightly lit up. The waiting time for the food was about 30 mins and they forgot to give us plate for the rice after sending all the food. Staff are not attentive and even though we had been waving to them. Even when we add in Tom Yam soup it was sent after we finished all the food that we told them to pack for us. We've ordered take away food for our driver but we were told no more order even before 8.00pm (based on Google closed at 9.00pm) - nobody asking for last order for the matter of facts. After some arguing, they took the orders without telling us how long need to wait.
After we waited for half an hour, we decided to make payment and asked for the take away but was told that they haven't start preparing it and will cancel the order. Of course, I replied angrily why should I pay for the food we did not take.
We don't really enjoy the food because of long waiting time and poor service. I've tried other place which serves a better food and hospitality.
We will never come to this...
Read moreOrdered Gong Gong, Udang Nestum, Sotong Grg Tepung, Sotong Grg Mentega, etc. Specifically ordered Gong Gong to be served first as finger food while waiting for main course, but the resto did not do so. Then we waited quite some time for the Gong Gong. Drinks also did not come quickly.
The worst part was the Udang Nestum. When I tasted the first one the head tastes way off. Tasted the others, same case. Strange tasting head, the body was not firm. We asked the servers to clarify with the kitchen if the prawn was fresh or not. Then they came back and apologized. It appears that the Udang Nestum was frozen, not fresh. No cash refund were offered.
Other menu tasted so-so but was brought further down by the ill tasting frozen Udang Nestum. I do not recommend this resto until they can improve their service and take off the Frozen Udang Nestum from their menu.
Update: During payment also charged more items than that is actually ordered, 2 fresh coconuts instead of 1. 3 bottled water instead of 1. Frozen Udang Nestum was also not taken...
