Lunpia Mataram — Restaurant in Semarang

This place need no review from the like of me. The true legend of Semarang loenpia (spring roll).

Watching the loenpia making process while salivating to devouring the entire bucket of loenpia is truly amazing experience.

The crunchiness of the skin roll, the sweetness of the yellow bamboo sprout, the sourness of the pickle, the onion spring smoothness, and the kick of the green chily is to die for even for the long waiting time as most people order 20 to 60 loenpia.

Come during wet season as the old sayer believe rainy season makes the bamboo sprout more juicy and sweeter.

I do believe God create Semarang for this...

It's almost too easy to put this as just another "Lunpia" or egg rolls, but this is one of the legendary vendors in this food category. The bamboo shoots in general for most egg rolls in Semarang is different as it's not smelly nor hard. While the inside of the egg rolls is quiet diverse including shrimps. The combination of the egg rolls + pickled cucumber + green onion + sauce + green chili is just good. Just beware if you have gout this may trigger it due to bamboo shoot is causing gout to flare up. Its my first time going to mt haryono street and every 100 meters sell lunpia in this street. Some are crowded but this shop has the best review on google. I bought the last 8 fried lunpia on june 6, i expect more by this famous name. The price for one lunpia is idr 16.000 , the owner/staff is friendly and seems clean. After 3 hours way back to the hotel its still crispy, it filled fully and i can say 2 is enough for my dinner. The taste is ordinary i would say the lunpia wrap is quite thin and easily teared...
