As what every other reviewer stated, this place is aesthetically very beautiful. The colonial style building is (I think) the main attraction because everything else other than that failed miserably.
The food, unfortunately, was just a miss. We order a bunch of dishes. Two were okay and they were Chicken Cordon Bleu and Some buntut bakar something. Lucky for my wife and my sister, their food was okay.
Mine on the other hand was a huge let down. I ordered Seafood Pizza. I don't know what did they use to cook the pizza, but from the texture of the dough and the topping, it's like they use a microwave oven to fire the pizza because it was completely dry but still undercooked. Just like when you heat something up with a microwave oven. All the moisture is gone. And yet, it was completely undercooked. The colour of the shrimp was pale and still somewhat transparant, which was supposed to be bright and orange-ish. And I couldn't taste any sauce other than the passata and the mozzarella. The other thing that I notice about the pizza, it's like they used a store-bought dough which was already flatten out. It was thin but hard. Like there was no air trapped in the dough like what you always find in a freshly-made dough. There was no crust whatsoever. I don't know.
The other dish that was a big let down was the Lunpia. The colour was pale, the texture was hard but not with the right crispiness. Again, like it was cooked using air fryer or a microwave. And it was completely salty. I couldn't taste anything else beside salt.
One other thing that I ordered that failed was the draft beer. It was weak with almost no co2. I think there was something wrong with the co2 keg or the regulator or something because after they changed the glass, the replacement one has a bit more co2 in it. But still weak.
One more thing that the management can do something about is the song list of the live band performing tonight. Maybe there can be an agreement made between the performers and the venue so the songlist that the band provide can be taken more seriously so it won't be completely random.
I know it's not easy to keep the atmosphere alive when there were only a few tables in front of you. It's so hard. Believe me, I know. But a well-thought songlist can really give a good impact even when there is only one table as your audience.
And please, minimize the sound of the drum as it almost drowns the vocal output in the speakers. Even when it was already caged. Or maybe, in a slow night like week night, just use Cajon. It will provide a more balanced sound, trust me on this.
One thing that made me feel okay from tonight's visit was the servers. Top notch service all around.
I suggest you drop the fusioned menu and stick to the original dishes that still in-line with your building concept. Traditional Indonesian or Dutch food...
Read moreDuring our family trip to Solo, we had the pleasure of dining at Canting Londo Kitchen, and it absolutely deserves a 5 out of 5 rating. Canting Londo Kitchen in Solo offers a memorable dining experience with its beautiful old Dutch architecture, excellent food, and top-notch service. It's a place where you can enjoy the best of Solo's culinary delights in a setting that feels both grand and inviting. Despite a minor hiccup with one dish, the overall experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Solo.
The food quality and presentation were exceptional. Every dish we ordered was delightful, and we particularly loved the Fungi Carbonara (50k), which my child found extraordinarily delicious. The Wagyu Selat Solo (59k) is a must-try; it's a traditional Solo dish, and the taste here surpasses any other place we've tried. For dessert, the Mango Shirataki (45k) was delightful, though it would have been easier to eat if the mango had been cut from its skin.
We did encounter a minor issue with the Honje fried rice (67k), as the clams didn't taste fresh. However, when we brought this to the staff's attention, they responded promptly and offered compensation, which we didn't expect but greatly appreciated. Their excellent service and knowledgeable suggestions on their signature dishes truly enhanced our dining experience.
Adding to the charm, there was a live music performance, which would have been perfect if it hadn't been for the heavy rain that somewhat dampened the enjoyment. Nevertheless, it added to the overall atmosphere of the place.
Canting Londo Kitchen is an excellent choice for fine dining. Considering the quality of the ingredients, the taste, and the service, the prices are very reasonable. While it is more expensive than other eateries in Solo, it is definitely worth it.
A fun fact about Canting Londo Kitchen is that it not only offers amazing food but also a glimpse into the colonial history of Solo through its architecture and ambiance. It's a great spot for both history buffs and food lovers.
Make sure to visit during less busy hours if you prefer a quieter dining experience. If you prefer to watch live music performance then asked to get table near stage, if you prefer intimacy dining then asked table inside, they also have several private dining room. Also, don't miss their live music performances, which are usually scheduled for...
Read moretaste slightly towards sweet side instead of the authentic Thai sourness. Overall, it's okay.
very mild taste and fragrance of truffle. Quite bland. Taste pretty much like normal and healthier version of truffle fries.
tasty for an aglio olio dish. Olive oil, salt and spice perfect but can't really taste the salted egg. Could have strengthen the salted egg taste a little more.
east meets west kinda dish. Not a wow. Felt lost eating it. The roti pastry is too hard to cut through so it's messy and hard to eat.
the pastry is too hard so basically can't cut through. Not a good dish to share. Like the peppermint sauce and strawberry ice cream though.
original Kombucha & pineapple Kombucha - take away - they packaged in a nice brown take away bag
pure Oolong tea - nice big pot.
There were two events so we had to be seated at the teras area which is pretty okay. We get to experience the live band playing jazz.
Waiters are efficient and friendly. Parking was a bit chaotic since there were two events going on but thankfully we managed to park just outside of...
