When you visit Solo and want to try local food, this place is recommended. They have many delicious local dishes that you should try. Their signature dish is Selat Solo, but others are also yummy for me.
Went here with a friend last month and tried Sup Matahari and Selat Solo Daging Cacah. Super yummy and very cheap! We only paid 25K for both dishes plus a glass of sweet hot tea. All food is under 15K but the taste is excellent. Both dishes have a light and super tasty broth, which linger in your mouth. But other dishes are a must try too! Even they have local snacks that will not disappoint you. Try them out!
This place is located near to Stasiun Balapan, about 500m to the right direction. Take a becak and ask the driver to drop you there. You just need to pay 10K for this kind of transportation.
Lunchtime is their busiest time so please come at least before 10 am because after that you will have to wait for a chair! There is always a long queue and crowd of people craving for their foods. So you must be prepared to wait.
The service is average, not that fast but not that slow too. It is reasonable because they need to prepare a dish with many fillings before it’s ready. There are many small set of tables and chairs to enjoy your favorite food here. But the parking lot is very limited. Better to use your motorcycle or public transportation...

The taste of selat is rich and complex, with a balance of sweetness, saltiness, sourness, and spiciness. The sauce is thick and creamy, coating the meat and vegetables with a delicious flavor. The meat is tender and juicy, the eggs are soft and smooth, the potatoes are crispy and fluffy, and the vegetables are fresh and crunchy. The pickles add a tangy contrast to the richness of the dish, while the lettuce provides a...
Read moreHave to say that the most compelling thing about this place is its pricing policy. It’s cheap to eat here while still maintaining the quality aspect of the foods, especially the taste. We ordered Selat Solo (basically a localized hollandse biefstuk with minced meat instead) which was pretty good, shredded cucumber in lime and melon syrup drink I forgot the name, which exceptionally refreshing, and some condiments that didn’t fail to do their jobs. We visited the place at lunch time and it’s fully crowded, and it was harder to bring our order to the table, yes it was self service here. Other things about the place are it’s easy to find and has very limited parking space. Overall...
