Bakso Afung — Restaurant in Tangerang

Rude staff! I have been a loyal customer of them. Since my company sends me over to Jakarta for business trip every month from 2018 onwards, I made an effort to frequent this restaurant whenever I am departing from T2 back to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

Today I am so upset! As usual I ordered my bowl of bakso tofu with a teh botol. Upon payment, a lady staff came and took over the cashier from a boy. She asked me if I didn't have a BNI or Mandiri bank. Else, I needed to pay by cash.

Politely I told her and showed her my wallet, I didn't have enough Rupiah left in my wallet because I am leaving. I told her that every month dining here, I was allowed to use my MasterCard and no one raised an issue, why this time I couldn't anymore? The lady shrugged coldly and served the customer behind of me.

I left humiliated and went over my table to pack my items and luggage. I went to them again to ask, "come on let's swipe the card, it will go through".

She went on the extend of white lies and told me as if I was a kindergarten kid. Apparently here in Bakso Afung, BNI terminal only accept BNI cards, and Mandiri terminal only accept Mandiri cards. All their FOUR terminals are as obsolete as only able to accept self-issued cards! I told them it was not true, was it a policy change, if yes just say it. Alas, they repeated the same lie as if i would believe the second time.

I was really craving for their Bakso. So before I left, I asked them if they did not welcome foreigners anymore? Citibank no? HSBS no? Even a Maybank no? Only Indonesian card in Bakso Afung? And they nodded coldly.

Before I really left I told them, "Just admit that the shop do not want to swipe a foreign card anymore, even to a loyal customer. Say it and don't blame the card terminals (EDC)!." Finally they nodded and I walked out.

God is fair! Turns out the shop next door, BAKMI GM has wonderful Bakso too! And the staff are friendly! OMG I literally overlooked them for 1 year! I told them how Bakso Afung treated me and hahaha...I sincerely hope Bakmi GM get all their foreign customers!
