This restaurant is located in Iranshahr street, central Tehran. It can get crowded at times, with a line forming outside. For us took 1 hour to get in. There is only one item on menu that is Dizzi, a kind of lamb broth. Ingredients are lamb meat, lamb fat ( usually obtained form fat tailed lamb, from hind part of those lamb breeds), tomato, lime juice and fragrant herbs. Then they are mashed with baked potato into what is mashed lamb meat in Farsi ( Gooshte Koobideh), Also lamb broth is mixed with hot, out of oven, Sangak bread. Usually eaten and served separately. Your server can help with the prep. Condiments include onion pickles, Ahirazi salad, and Leete pickles ( Leete Torshi). End the feasts with hot black tea and Baamieh ( sugary sweet) substitute for shaver, see photos. Decor is traditional, with a lot of old style paintings around( see photos), hey are called tea house paintings. Service is fast, and efficient. Street parking is limited. Prize if each set including all included and tea is about 7$ per person which I think is a great deal. It’s an old restaurant and I think it is worth it. Curbside look is unpretentious, inside decor is nostalgic of past times. 👍🏼

Head towards Dizi sara if you want to experience the local delicacy Dizi in a most traditionally decorated restaurant. Went there without much expectation, since some times restuarants won't deliver food as it is in the review. Since the only dish is the menu is dizi, they are good at what they are doing. Served in a traditional way, where you can mash the dizi with the wooden masher and enjoy the resulting paste with bread dipped in the dizi broth. Wash down this with traditional dooh and chai with dessert as toppings. Worth visit, especially the interior is well adorned with the painting from old clasicals which each of them portrays a story behind it. Update feb 2019. Took my cousin there and dizi became his favourite dish in his iran trip. One dish and they are killing it. Nothing much to add except some recent photos.

Dizi is one the most popular traditional dishes in Iran. If you are searching for a delicious Dizi in Tehran, you can't find anywhere better than this place. It's an old famous restaurant in the centeral part of Tehran which the locals call it as iranshahr Dizi saraa. There is a lot of beautiful old paintings on the wall. They will mash the potatoes and the ingredients for you if you ask them. The quality of Dizi is incomparable. It's not possible to make a reservation before, you have to go there the day you want to eat Dizi. On Thursdays and Fridays it's a little bit crowded.

Oh my God. I've come to tehran around ten times last six years and l didn't know this marvelous dizi restaurant in district number six, my favourite one. Our apartment this year was closed to dizi Sara, an old special dizi restaurant, so we had to visit it. The menu is simple: just dizi (my wife's one appart, is the best dizi I've eaten). Sabzi was fresh, dough was natural, piaz e torsh was amazing, sangak was hot, even bamie was delicious. We will come back soon.

Dizi ....... Aab Gosht.....same dish, different names. Having tried it in Dubai, I was always today I should try this in Iran. And they were right. Immense difference in the taste. Tried it on a very cold and rainy day, which eventually turned to a light snowfall. Mildly spicy, very homely and amazingly enticing. Very comfortable interiors, quick service and did I mention AMAZING TASTE?

I have been coming here for many years to eat dizi, and one of the best dizi in Tehran must be eaten here, the taste of dizi is excellent, the atmosphere is excellent, the staff are polite, and the service is excellent, and you can charge as much as you want for free, which includes pickles, doogh and… Finally they will treat you with tea and sweets. They are really the best
