Not impressed. Don't go in there expecting food quality or service level of even the lowest rated tourist trap in Switzerland (or even Athens, for that matter). I was served a Quiche Lorraine for starter which was maybe 10cm across and 1 cm thick! Obviously it didn't have bacon or ham which don't exist in Iran (and hence, this concoction should not be called a Quiche Lorraine) and it had a few grams of some mashed meat in it which was perhaps chicken. Their Swiss steak was a piece of tasteless tenderloin which was cut incorrectly: had the muscle fibers running lengthwise, making it stringy and, very un-steak like! It lacked any charred meat aroma or taste and instead smelled of burnt oil which was used for frying it, and obviously in a light weight pan which failed to sear the surface and the result was just a piece of cooked meat - not a steak. On the plate was a bunch of very thin-cut fries which was soggy and greasy, certainly not what you'd expect to be served with "steak". You have no options to chose mashed or baked potatoes and are stuck with these sorry looking things. Also a very amateurish sauce laced with MSG laden powdered stock, and a piece of broccoli twice the size of my thumb. The worst part: both our dinners arrived cold. The steaks were barely above room temperature and the fries were absolutely expired. We complained to the manager and they were very apologetic and changed our food. I got another medium steak this time on a heated plate, while my wife's medium-well was obviously just reheated (recycled?) and she was served a sorry piece of destroyed tenderloin completely grey and dead. The decor is a weird mix of things that don't have any logical relationships, the chairs are old wooden bistro chairs which are very uncomfortable after 10 minutes for a heavier person, but you're charged the white tablecloth prices. More suitable for the instagram crowd than anyone expecting decent...
Read moreOne of Tehran oldest restaurants working for many years with having different type of high quality foods. The most famous dishes is stack which is the best . The price is a little upper than the other neighborhood restaurants but it’s very reasonable. The crew are so professional and friendly.
I return to the Swiss restaurant again after a few years again. We didn’t reserve the table in advance and a bunch of people were waiting for the table in the waiting room. We asked the manager to write our names to be on the queue and it took us about an hour to get inside. I highly recommend you to make reservations a couple of days ahead special for the weekend “Wednesday and Friday night” It has been some changes in design and decorations which was so cosy. The food was so good quality like before. For start we ordered two different type of soup which was so tasty. Highly recommended, We all ordered the famous steak like before which is number one choice and has written with read color on the menu. For the drink I highly recommend you to ask pomegranate fruit juice which is so good. The waitress were very polite and nice. The price of meals was 20%.-30% higher than other Tehran’s good restaurants but I think it has worth to try. Another thing catches my attention was the old man with white suits. I knew him more than 25 years. He was master of waiters since I was going to the restaurant. He is a very polite guy and welcoming person managing all people inside of the restaurant now. One of the main reasons I was returning to the restaurant was him. In overall I recommend this restaurant for all those who look for a luxury...
Read moreIf you’re a true steak lover and all about that pure, original flavor of quality meat, Swiss Restaurant in Tehran is a must-visit.
No joke! this place serves what I honestly believe is the best and most delicious steak in Tehran. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with that rich, authentic taste that’s so hard to find these days. If you’re into clean, flavorful, no-fuss meat, this will be the best steak you’ve ever had in the city.
Their desserts? OMG. Totally different from what you normally see in other restaurants — and I’m telling you, they’re insanely delicious. You have to try one, even if you’re full. You’ll thank me later.
For starters, their French onion soup is quite famous, but personally, it wasn’t my thing — just a taste preference.
The vibe of the restaurant is super classic and original, like stepping back in time in the best way. There’s this sweet old gentleman who’s the manager — he walks around, checks on every table, and gives the place a really warm, family-run feeling. Love that.
Heads-up: make sure to book in advance! this place fills up fast, and finding a parking spot nearby isn’t...
