لا يمكن للمار في الكرادة، في رصافة بغداد، أن يتجاوز رائحة القهوة التي يتميز بها مقهى رضا علوان الذي أعاد الروح البغدادية إلى الكرادة؛ فالمقهى الأنيق هو ملتقى ثقافي مهم وركيزة يعول عليها المثقفون والشباب لعرض نشاطاتهم في قاعة كبيرة خصصها المكان للعروض السينمائية والنشاطات الثقافية الأخرى. يصف علي الخالدي، إعلامي عراقي، المقهى، في حديثٍ إلى "العربي الجديد": "حين تشاهد الحاضرين في ملتقى رضا علوان الثقافي فعلاً تبتسم، وتستعيد تلك الأيام السابقة للمقاهي البغدادية العريقة، كمقهى الزهاوي ومقهى حسن عجمي ومقهى البرازيلي. مقاهٍ كثيرة كانت ترتادها الشخصيات الثقافية".

يضيف: "الجديد، عموماً، في هذا المكان؛ هو تواجد النساء بشكل يبعث السرور عند الإنسان العراقي، إذ يجد هامشاً كبيراً من الحريّات، نتيجة انخراط المرأة الأكبر في المشهد الثقافي، خصوصاً أننا في مجتمع ليس سهلاً على المرأة أن ترتاد فيه هذا النوع من المقاهي التي احتكرها الذكور لزمن طويل. لكنّ الحال تغيّر الآن".

من جانبه، يقول الفنان العراقي محمد هاشم في حديث إلى "العربي الجديد": "الحقيقة مقهى رضا علوان خرج من نطاق أنه مقهى فقط، بل تعداه ليكون مكاناً ثقافياً مهماً، تُنظّم فيه مهرجانات سينمائية وقراءات شعرية". يضيف: "في النهاية، هو مكان مهم للثقافة، خصوصاً أنه يمتاز بموقع استراتيجي داخل منطقة الكرادة. المقهى اليوم أصبح مكاناً يدعو إلى الحياة والتأمل والفرح والسلام؛ ولهذا ترى زخماً كبيراً من المثقفين يرتادونه، وكذلك من الجمهور المعني بالأدب والثقافة والفن والسينما". يضيف: "والمهم كذلك أنه يبقى يستقبل زبائنه حتى وقت متأخر من الليل، وهذه تحتسب لإدارة المقهى". صاحب المقهى، الحاج أبو أحمد، يقول في حديث إلى "العربي الجديد": "الملتقى الثقافي، أو مقهى رضا علوان، دائماً يمتاز بالموضوعية والتجدد". يضيف أبو أحمد: "ورثنا المهنة عن الآباء، لكن المتميز فيها دخول الأفكار المتجددة، مثل الملتقى الثقافي الذي استقطب كل الفئات الفنية في كل جوانبها، من دون انحياز إلى أحد؛ إذ يتقبّل معظم الأفكار والأطياف، وفيه؛ تُحترم اختلافات وجهات النظر، من دون أن يُسيء أحد للآخر". يتابع حديثه: "لم نقف عند شيء، بدأنا بمشروع "اقرأ"، وكانت فكرة ناجحة جلبت العديد من الزبائن. "اقرأ" هو مشروع إنساني ثقافي، يتضمن وضع الكتب والروايات والقصص والدواوين الشعرية لكبار الشعراء والكتاب العرب والأجانب بالقرب من كل طاولة في المقهى؛ فإذا نال الكتاب إعجاب الزبون يستطيع شراءه بمبلغ 2000 دينار عراقي (بحدود دولار ونصف الدولار)، ونضعه في صندوق خاص في نهاية كل شهر نوزع ما جمعناه على الفقراء والمحتاجين والعائلات النازحة". أما عن الصالة الأخرى، يحدثنا أبو أحمد: "الصالة الكبيرة في الطابق الثاني من المقهى غالباً يستغلها السينمائيون الشباب لعدم وجود راعٍ رسمي للمخرج والممثل العراقي، وقمت بتوفير هذه المساحة لهم؛ ما أضاف ألقاً إلى المكان".
