We ate here on Sunday and were very impressed, i had beautifully prepared cooked oyster with caviar for starter. I am looking forward to eating these again, they were worth the trip alone. My wife had the chowder which was rich and fresh with plenty of fish and served with home made Brown bread . Our mains really showed off the creativity and skills of the chef and sets this place way above a regular seaside fish and chip place. she had the lobster ravioli with a velvety sauce, i had the most delicous coconut based curry with generous portions of fresh monk fish and scallops and juicy plump wild mussels. The high quality and freshness of the ingredients were apparent throughout the meal. The kids meals was not the usual frozen stuff but kids version of the main courses with something for even the fussiest of pallates. Even the kids deserts were made from scratch in the kitchen and were delicous. The wine selection is limited but well curated and is good value. We had a delicous white bordaux which went very well with our meal. They also have a good selection of regular and craft beers. In terms of value for money, what we paid was about the same price or less than many só called gasto pubs but the quality of the ingredients and the chefs attention to detail were what you could expect from a 5 Star establishment at more than twice the price. Ask for a table over...
Read moreWhen we go on holiday to Northern part, we always missed a great place to eat around Sligo. This time was different. We managed to find Fish & Bean. The place has around 10 tables. We booked one in advance. We had three starters (octopus, langoustines and oysters), three main dishes (fish burger, cod and scallops), plus one desert.
Obviously, one of the key elements for sea food is freshness. Not sure how Fish & Bean folks managed to ensure such freshness but it was a way above of our expectations and one of top places, where we had such fresh oysters. There were a lot of the langoustines as for the starter. In addition, they had very matching green herbs sauce. The cod skin was crispy with mashes as you would expect in a good place. Our son loved the fish burger (normally he orders only mince version of it). The desert was very light and refreshing
I could continue but I believe it's enough :) Fish & Bean will remain on our map for next travels to Northern part. I hope they will continue to deliver such high quality food.
Update: This restaurant continues to amaze me with its consistently outstanding quality—every visit is a delight. The attention to detail, fresh ingredients, and impeccable service set it apart. Highly...
Read moreI came to Fish & Bean for the first time after I had heard great things about the restaurant from so many people.
On arrival, first of all you are hit with this stunning view of the water and I was so lucky to see the sun setting in to the sea. Then I was greeted by lovely waitresses who were very friendly and approachable as they took me to my table. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. I love that you can see the chefs cooking away, it makes you really appreciate their hard work and effort that goes into all the dishes.
I started with a glass of Sauvignon blanc which i find always pairs perfectly with fish and seafood. I had oysters to start with that were presented so beautifully on a plate decorated with rocks and pebbles from the sea, such a lovely idea. I then had the fish tacos with a side salad, wow! Everything from the presentation to the taste was amazing. The tacos were incredible with the amount of flavours and colours bursting into your mouth from the first bite. The combination of flavours are just delicious. I couldn't fault my experience there at all. They definitely live up to what my other friends and family had told me. I will definitely be back to try out more of the menu.
Thank you Fish...
