The restaurant is located on the first floor of the UCD Confucius Institute. It mainly serves Sichuan cuisine (a type of Chinese cuisine). It is quite spicy, with more chili peppers and peppercorns. If you can't eat spicy food, then you should never go there. According to my classmates, the spiciness of the Sichuan cuisine here is higher than the average level of Sichuan cuisine.
The restaurant offers dine-in and take-away services. The price of the set meal is lower than the average Chinese food level in Dublin. One dish costs 6.5 euros, two dishes costs 8 euros, and three dishes costs 9.5 euros. You can choose meat or vegetables. It is very cost-effective.
The dishes are quite spicy and oily, and I sometimes feel uncomfortable after eating them. After 5:00 pm, you can order dishes individually. The menu in the picture.
The main problems here are: 1. In July 2024 when I reviewed, whether you choose to dine in or take away, the multiple dishes you choose will be placed in one container (unless you order a la carte), which causes multiple dishes to taste the same; 2. The waiter’s English is not very good. If you order in English, you often encounter language problems, which sometimes makes people feel...
Read moreNeither cheap nor good. It is overhyped to be honest. For a normal student at UCD spending a minimum 13.50€ for a one time meal is just too much. I would still eat if the food was good and edible. As an Asian, I am used to spice… but their food is just INEDIBLE. Their spice unfortunately numbs your lips and mouth having a severe reaction to the food you’re eating and ultimately tasting nothing. I was overthrown by the spice, it should not be made according to their taste but according to the people they serve. I had to throw away my food sadly, it burned my mouth. Kindly check the level of spice you put in things, it is intolerable to not some but many. The menu and the drinks are highly concentrating on Chinese, if you can’t read mandarin it would be tough for you to select a drink. It is not a friendly restaurant all in all. And please change your attitude whilst taking orders, nobody likes a rude person at the till. I would not recommend this place at all, I’d rather look elsewhere and eat...
Read moreDec 2023 ————— They start to offer ordering from menu. But the service is slow. I came on a Saturday evening just past 6pm. Most people are waiting for their dish. The set menu is made more expensive now but the quality dropped compared to 2 month ago. Was disappointed about this restaurant is moving away from its canteen-style and becomes just another average Chinese restaurant.
Oct 2023 ————— A canteen style restaurant in the campus of UCD. Provide both sit in and take away service. The menu changes daily but most days there are dishes in Sichuan style. They also serve one or two dishes that are not spicy every day. The food quality is great for the price. I went back a few times. It’s a new go-to place for Chinese food to me just like...
