I booked a table for ten people for dinner. Because we had two ceoliacs in the group and the menu online said they had gluten free fish and chips we were looking forward to it. But we nearly didn't go as the employee on the phone said they didn't do gluten free fish and chips and had to go and check and confirmed they had got it. Anyway, unfortunately we decided to book it. I say unfortunately as when we arrived and shown to our tables, there was only one large table and one small table which only seated eight people. I said it to the lovely girl which showed us our seats and asked if we might swap a small table for a large one so we could all fit ( not a complicated request you might think). I even offered to help her move the tables and she seemed fine about it until a barman ( Mick he said his name was) said he couldn't swap any tables ( even though no one else was even sitting at them). Iasked him how we could be expected to eat our dinners and he said he would get me a stool to put it on. I thought he was joking, I said " do you really expect me to eat my dinner from a stool and he said well the other tables are booked, so I said well we had booked also but it didn't seem to bother him and he said if we didn't like it we could leave. He was so rude. Leaving that aside I decided to fix the problem myself and got two chairs from another table which meant we could move closer to the small table ( it wasn't ideal but I don't like conflict so I looked for a solution). The final straw was when the barman ( Mick) saw what I done, I said to him it's ok I sorted it out myself, he told me I was being arrogant and was obviously annoyed rather than happy we decided to stay. At this stage I'd had enough and told him we were leaving. He didn't seem to care and even the other barman behind the counter said ( " I don't know why your telling me as I don't care" ). I asked for the manager and they said he won't be in untill tomorrow. We left and got a table in the Brock where we got a fantastic experience and they got our service. The mind boggles to think of the rudeness from these barmen who obviously don't care whether you stay or go, I hope their manager reads this and has the decency to reply with an explanation to why we received such horrible customer service and met with such a careless attitude from these employees. I'll never go again but we will have family dinner in the...
Read moreHad a very bad experience with the bar manager. We were in for some food recently (on a bank holiday Sunday) with our 2 young kids. After finishing our main course we checked with the waiting staff to see if the kids had to leave. After having been told they were absolutely fine we were then refused service 5 minutes later at approx 7.20 pm. Bar manager went on tell us that kids weren't allowed after 7pm on a Sunday which is absolutely fine with us but he was extremely rude about it and we were extremely embarrassed as he made a big scene in front of other customers. He was very aggressive which caught us off guard as we had been sitting in the corner and the kids hadnt made a sound during our meal. We have been here a number of times and always looked forward to going back however we will never set foot in the place again all because of this one person and his arrogant attitude. Customer service is lost on him. It's unfortunate for the business owner to have a single staff member damage their business as I'm sure we arent the first and won't be the last customer to...
Read moreSad to post a negative review for a place we often visited as a family pre-covid. Today we were refused at the door because the doorman mistook us and other visitors as one large group. When we tried to explain that we were 2 groups of 6 (including an 84 year old grandmother) and another completely separate group, we were told that we would not be allowed in because "we would break all the rules on entry" even though we explained that we understood the rules and would adhere to all restrictions as we just wanted to have a meal and leave. The other group were allowed in but we were refused entry. The doorman refused to look at our proof of email reply from Autobahn where we were informed we could come as a walk in and would be accommodated (the email address from their contact form on their website and there was plenty of available tables) - he simply said that they don't do emails. For a place we've often visited, we will surely not...
