Jade Palace Restaurant Swords — Restaurant in Fingal

Disclosure- I'm an American staying in Swords for the evening to catch a flight home. I'm thankful to have some closer to authentic Chinese restaurants at home. I googled British Chinese food and saw it was closer to the Americanized Mall food equivalent, with chips.

The food may be okay and catered well to local Irish/ English people, so YMMV, but it was pretty far from authentic Chinese or Thai food. There were no Thai options outside curry on the menu.

One of the plates we ordered was Szechuan chicken, which said it was extra spicy. It was not a dark sauce with Szechuan numbing peppers but instead a sweet and sour sauce with red pepper flakes. We also had spring rolls, which were closer to vegetables you'd find in a pot pie than any Asian spring roll- it wasn't bad, just different.

The dining area inside was clean and spacious, the staff was friendly. They recieved and delivered LOTs of take away orders while we dined, so I suppose they are popular locally- which I would assume is a good sign if you're local as your expectations may be different than my own.

Be fair, 3 and half stars, not 4.

Pros: Nice place, reasonable prices. Food quality is slightly above average, nothing for complaints, but I've also seen much better too. Staff is ok, standard chinese hospitality, far from outstanding, but not disaster too. Interior and furniture is in very average level, but clean.

Cons: Laminated menu is really old and falling apart, unavailable food is covered with ugly white sticker. Fork and knife on table (ok, I know, we are in Europe and most guests have no idea how to use chopsticks), but even when I asked for chopsticks, they bring some half-useless plastic monsters. Next time I bring my own bamboo set.

I have been ordering from jade palace for more then 5 years . On the eveing of the 9/1 /2018 I ordered what I have all ways ordered a yellow veg curry no pineapple instead broccoli extra spicy we received a red curry with tomatoes and potatoes. I called and they explained to me that yellow curry was Chinese curry . I have been a chef for more then 16 years yellow curry comes from India not Asia when I ask for a refund it was refused I ask If they could send the correct order they refusesd. I Explain that I have been trained in many Asian country's and that no Asian curry is yellow there a varation in Thai . I told them thank you i would be coming to the restaurant and I wanted to speak to the owners they said no problem.. we're is the professionalism and were is the customer loyalty..... my recommendation don't order from them you will not recieve...
