Very disappointed to be writing this as we love this restaurant but since the restaurant manager never called me like I was promised this week, I feel I have to share my experience in hopes of getting better service in the future and to ensure other patrons are not as let down as we were. From the moment we arrived, the service was abysmal. We were there Saturday 29th March for my partners birthday, we booked online the day before. We sat outside on the balcony right next to the door on to the restaurant (in view of the camera so no exaggerations in terms of wait times here). Our first server was completely inattentive, she took our order, we got our first drinks and then ordered our meals, and then she just forgot about us..it was almost 1 hour after we had ordered and were still waiting, I was getting very hungry and so ordered another round of drinks when the server came back, 40 mins later and one reminder later to the same person…still no drinks, I could just see her walking around inside completely oblivious. Then a male server came out and I mentioned the girl hadnt brought our drinks out and he went to check, coming back with them fairly quickly. We were waiting an hour for the starters and I received a very rushed and messy charcuterie board and my partner had wings. Then we spent another hour sitting waiting on mains, we asked a different server how long they would be and he went inside to check, we were immediately suspicious that the kitchen had not made it somehow when he returned and said at least another 5-10 mins. The mains came and we had a steak and a pizza, the steak was actually good!! The pizza tasted like a prepackaged supermarket pizza it was very bland, undercooked and cold. I wound up hiding it under my napkin. Then an hour after the mains had been finished the server came to take our plates and I asked about desserts and said we would have the apple crumble. Another whole hour later still nothing…the server was inside walking around and eventually returned to us and I was fed up, more than 3 hours after we arrived and we just decided to get the bill, when the guy came back I asked him honestly “I’m sorry did you forget the dessert or what happened?” And he looked so confused, but obviously it clicked when I said it and yet still asked me if I wanted to get it for takeout? And then when we said no it’s fine we don’t want it anymore we went to pay using a 100€ gift card for the restaurant given to us by our friends. We showed it to the server and he had no idea what it was. We just said look we will go and pay inside and hopefully someone more knowledgeable could figure it out for us: we go inside and half the bar staff are there trying to get the gift voucher figured out with my partner staring at his phone. All the while I’m standing at the end of the bar looking for the manager, to explain that we had a terrible experience all night and he apologised explaining the staff were preoccupied with parties, and were very busy etc but it’s no excuse.. Clearly the night was about the larger birthday celebrations going on inside the restaurant, and the people on the balcony were literally non existent. In the end he took my number and my name and said I’d get a call during the week about it and I heard nothing! We were well dressed, courteous and polite, the quietest people in the place just sitting outside watching the planes because that’s what we enjoy. Overall what was meant to be a special night for my partner’s birthday turned into a huge disappointment, getting there at 7:15pm and leaving at 11pm and not even receiving all our food! But still paying 130€?? I don’t think I’d recommend this place to...

After a very long stressful day, we had planed Dublin but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to come back to the hotel quite late so we end up booking a table here for 9:30 through their website as we were staying in the hotel once we got there we were rushed to our table and asked if we could hurry with our order as the kitchen closed at nine but that same strange to us that you could book a table until 1030 my husband ordered the gnocchi which was horrific Was not gnocchi seemed more like potato bread that had been deep fat fried not much of a butter sauce, very little sage taste and left a very strange filling in your mouth oily almost my seafood chowder was nice We ordered a pint And a glass of wine, then the main dishes came my husband's burger had no sauce it was meant to be a Sriracha burger along with pepper sauce home made fries and parmesan the fries were just frozen chips He commented that there was no flavour off of it but did eat it because we were so hungry at this point. My fish was very undercooked. The batter was still raw on the inside slimy i Was not able to eat it. Server came and asked how everything was I had to send my whole dish back Along with my side,i was offered something else but declined everything had the same taste of really dirty oil The manager did take my dish off of the bill and give us complimentary drinks and asked us if we wanted dessert but honestly by this point we didn't really want anything more to eat from there we ended up coming back to the hotel room and ordering takeout, The restaurant is beautiful and the food did look so good shame about the taste if I was staying in the hotel again, I probably would go up just for drinks i think for the price of the food its not...

We were staying in the hotel and had booked dinner in runway 28, and we arrived at 19:10. We had reserved a table for 2 by the window at the back end of the restaurant. When we arrived it wasn’t free. We made our order and our starters didn’t come out for approximately 1 hr. Similarly, it took another hour and ten minutes for our mains to come out. Waiting over 2 hours for main courses to come is far too long. We ended up skipping dessert as we didn’t fancy waiting another hour for that to come.

We mentioned it to the waiter, who mentioned they had recently installed a new system for taking orders using iPads and it wasn’t working well and they were falling behind. The waiter understood our frustration and agreed the time to receive our dishes was far too long. It seemed they were understaffed and completely caught flat footed. The waiter was kind and polite so the 1 star is not against the waiter, or other members of staff but rather the poor service overall from the restaurant. By contrast, a couple sat down beside us, ordered starters and mains, and were paying their bill before our mains even came out. The waiter did give us a free drink to compensate for the poor service. We were due to go to an event after dinner and ended up not going as we ended up quite delayed.

We mentioned it at the front desk this morning, when checking out, and we received a half hearted apology, with the main focus being “that they were busy”.

The food at runway 28 was reasonable so it’s a real shame it would have taken 3 hours to eat a full meal there. It really let itself down and it wouldn’t encourage us to return or to recommend it to friends. The response we got from the front desk didn’t...

EDIT: You've copy / pasted your reply to me to other reviews below lol. As a confirmed aviation nut this place satisfies all of your desires. The views are spectacular and you really feel up close to the "action". There are heaters and blankets and I'd say that even in the rain it would be sheltered enough. The staff are very attentive and also very friendly. Little activity packs were included for our 16 month old twins as were high chairs. Sadly, in a few other areas we did not enjoy the meal. - The "club sandwich" which costs €12.95 was the saddest club I've ever seen. Bread toasted to a crisp, not triple decker, the skimpiest little shreds of chicken and limp lettuce squashed flat in a toaster. It also wasn't served on Sourdough as described. - The signature Gin cocktail (€10.95) was just a G&T with berries and Elderflower tonic. I could barely taste the Gin. Even the waiter seemed unenthusiastic about it when I asked for a description. "Runway 28 Premium Gin, Thomas Henry Ederflower Tonic, Garnish". So, confirmed, it's G&T with berries floating in it. - The omlette was just ok. Nothing wrong with it specifically but just not worth the €12.95. Even the description on the menu is a little sad "Eggs, cheese, ham, fries".

Staff extremely efficient and accommodating, they provide blankets if it gets chilly and can sit under heated lamps. I love how the restaurant provides filtered water and the drinking glasses and cutlery were sparking. The views; really nice - however, that’s all you’re paying for. Paying for the view. Unfortunately the food was a huge let down. I was extremely disappointed. Wings for starters and paying €11 for literally 5 wings in total and 4 were all bones. No meat on them (It’s like the chefs came to the end of the wing bag and couldn’t be bothered to open up a new batch). The burger I was expecting the beef to be chunky and meaty but again, another let down. Plain beef patty (possibly pre packed) didn’t fit onto the burger bun either, fries looked like they’re all on portion control and paying €2 for a tablespoon of garlic is just unjustifiable. I’ve seen reviews stating the food quality doesn’t match the prices and I fully agree. I’m glad I went, and seen what the place was about. Moreover, I wouldn’t recommend or be back in a hurry that’s for sure. Plenty of beautiful outstanding places in close proximity to this place.
