Aggressive, rude, disgusting owner
Best recommendation is to totally avoid Solas tapas bar. Even before reading this review I would recommend on checking out the owners replies to other negative reviews. Child like, obstinate and rude.
My partner booked us a table for 2 people, two weeks in advance of our trip to Dingle. With a ten week old baby, there is a lot of planning to make sure we eat. We requested a table with buggy space at the time of booking, and again, rang on the day to make sure this was ok with the restaurant as we knew it was a small space. We were told over the phone by Nicki (Co owner) that this was no problem what so ever and they would be ready for us.
On arriving with our baby for our dinner we were met by a frazzled grey haired woman( the apparent Co owner) who pointed to a small space between two tight tables and said “listen you can put the buggy here but we’re a small restaurant”. Across from these tables was a two person table with plenty of space on either side, already in use.
We replied that we had called in advance and had been told that they would accommodate us, we were met with and angry reply that she didn’t “want a scene”. We said that that their had clearly been provisions made for us at the second table and maybe people were seated in the wrong place? The woman essentially told us, TAKE IT OR LEAVE. We went back and forth with the rude owner for a few minutes with her constantly protesting that they are a small restaurant and us countering that we had literally spoke to the other owner Nicki and was assured it was ok.
Eventually we left, upset, angry, hungry and frustrated with a small baby. We were made to feel like a problem and she embarrassed and was extremely rude and unprofessional.
I would recommend almost anywhere else in Dingle for your dinner, eat on the dock and you will feel treated better than at Solas. Anxiously awaiting the owners reply, it should be interesting based on the super professional attitude.
BOYCOTT SOLAS, horrible people.
