Camile Limerick — Restaurant in Limerick

Camille used to be so great. I don't know what has happened. The staff are still great and the venue is nice, with good atmosphere, but the food is just so inconsistent and substandard now. I recently got a chicken starter and it might have been the worst chicken I have ever had. It was like it had been cured over several years. It was mummified meat. More like chickens feet than chicken tender. Could not even bite through it. It was like tough plastic string. It was as if they picked it out of the bin and the side salad was like it had been cut out of cardboard. The tiny tub of Sriracha sauce was enough for one chip. The monkfish special was all rice and I counted three pieces of monkfish. There wasn't even the option of Thindi, which for me, is now the better option. There are still nice options like the cauliflower and the curries are nice, but it's mostly rice, sauce and veg with not enough meat. I feel like Camille has got lazy with the food- taken their eye off the ball. Shame, because they were on to a really good thing. Got there about 7:15pm, place was not unduly busy but already had an air of confusion about it. While the front door says 'sitting in' and 'take aways' and direction arrows are shown, everybody ends up congragating in the counter space inside the door - leads to a bit of confusion and for those new to the place, difficulty in knowing what to do/where to go. Apparently one goes to the side counter to order sitting in and the smaller front facing counter to order take out - though this was not always adhered to either.

Food was a while in coming, though we all appeared to be waiting equal time. There are bowls on the tables but it's a question of reaching out and taking one - there were three bowls left out and four (two couples) who needed bowls. Water the same, grab glasses and one of the bottles (communal style benches/tables). Food tasted good and there was sufficient of it. Staff seemed a bit lethargic - or that could have been me after a twelve hour day 🙄

Absolutely terrible service! Staff too busy talking by the kitchen. Was sat at a dirty table, wasn’t given a menu I had to ask for it. No one came to take my order when I asked a member of staff if she could take it I was told I’ve to go up to the till to make an order!! Yet it says on the door please wait to be seated. Please train your staff!!! The correct way to serve a customer is to hand them a menu at the door while the table is being cleaned. Then seat the customer and tell them that you will be back to take order, or if for some crazy reason you need your customers to order at till yet they need staff to seat them (makes no sense) then make the customer aware of this after you seat them!
