The Orchard House — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Kilkenny City

There are multiple reasons to visit or better love a restaurant Location Richness and choice of offers and quality of kitchen -Service Cleanliness -Architecture in and out ( several rooms, and beer garden) -Parking opportunity -Safety for children and going outside during a function

Might be I forget a lot.

All that enumerated is given in the best way.

But the most important, yes outstanding, is the stuff for feeling at home. All, I mean really all, are working professional, behave friendly to guests and to each other too. Like friends do.( including kitchen) There is always a welcoming atmosphere and for me astonishing, some are singing wonderfully very much in tune with the radio. This cheerfulness transfers on the guest. Especially I was infected. Most impressive was for me, when the restaurants were full of guests. No running and hectic of the service stuff, everyone just working with oversight.

The hospitality industry in Kilkenny is for me the best in Europe and in this hard competition area to belong to the top is...

I attempted numerous times to contact the restaurant in relation to booking a table for two. There was no answer so I emailed them in relation to this in which I was informed that they do not take bookings , it's a walk in service. We proceeded to go in and was told it was busy , we had our covid certificates ready to which neither of them were checked or scanned and we were put sitting at a table with another group of people . After 20 minutes of sitting I asked for two drinks and the menus, I was told quite abruptly that they will get them and go to my seat. 25 minutes later we got the drinks and was informed there was no menu's and a member of staff dragged over a large chalk board display of what food was available.

I ordered the chicken fajitas and my partner ordered the roast beef. 30 minutes later our food came out , chicken was black and rock hard. The two dinners and two drinks came to 42 euro. This is very expensive for pub food and the lack of service...

Only giving one star because can't post the review without grading it, if I could put a minus star I would! Do not go here if you have any food intolerance issues, they promised us they would cater for my husband who has severe food intolerance issues. They were informed four times previous to our visit for a family meal and had no food ready, and we were subjected to mockery and more incompetence when food had to be returned because it had pepper on it even though they had been told not to put any sauce or condiments on the food. Obviously being informed verbally and through emails was not enough for them to put in a bit of effort. Absolute disgraceful, will not be darkening the door of this place ever again.. Just to add my mother received a phone call today from the manager complaining about this review. The unprofessional behaviour of this restaurant is...
