We recently had the pleasure of dining at Lana, an Asian restaurant in Portlaoise, and it left quite an impression on us.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lana's Asian cuisine managed to win over even those of us who aren't typically fans of Asian food. We tried the Crispy Duck in Plum Sauce with noodles and the Slow-Cooked Beef Massaman Curry with noodles, and they were nothing short of delicious. The flavors were expertly balanced, and each bite was a burst of delightful taste. Without a doubt, Lana's food deserves a solid 5-star rating.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The service at Lana was exceptional. Our waiter was not only friendly but also incredibly attentive. We were promptly served, and our waiter's warm and welcoming demeanor added to the overall positive dining experience. We never felt rushed, and the efficient service made our meal even more enjoyable. A definite 5-star rating for the outstanding service.
Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Despite not adhering to a traditional Asian aesthetic, Lana's atmosphere was warm and inviting. The tasteful decor and comfortable seating created a cozy ambiance that made us feel right at home. It might not be what you typically expect from an Asian restaurant, but it certainly deserves a 5-star rating for providing a comfortable and pleasant dining environment.
The only minor aspect that fell slightly short of expectations was the tea. We ordered Jasmine tea, but it was served in tea bags, not the loose-leaf tea one might expect from an Asian restaurant. This was a minor disappointment in an otherwise outstanding meal.
A noteworthy feature of Lana is the complementary ice cream from a self-service machine. This isn't your typical cheap ice cream; it's a pleasant surprise that adds to the overall dining experience.
In conclusion, our recent visit to Lana in Portlaoise was a delightful experience. With exceptional food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Lana is a top choice for dining in the area. While the tea fell slightly short, the complementary ice cream was a delightful touch. All aspects of our visit received well-deserved...
Read moreBeen here twice. First time the food was really nice and service was fairly quick.
Second time, we were waiting for food for over 40 mins. Both tables either side came in after us and had eaten and gone by the time we got our food. No explanation other than they completely forgot about us or messed up the order.
These things happen, wasn't a great experience. We were asked how was it when paying to which I explained that we were waiting quite a while for our food while other patrons had entered the building and left, we didn't order anything particularly special. Was were told sometimes the kitchen gets backed up, which I don't think really applied to our situation, unless we were made a lower priority for some reason? I would have rathered they just said they messed up the order and sincerely apologised but whatever.
While we didn't have a good experience, the people around us seemed to be having a great time and quick service, guess we were...
Read moreSo I went to this restaurant it looked beautiful outside and kinda like a they just put stuff together look on the inside it was ok though. When we got a seat and sat down it was nice. It took them a while to get to us (but there was only 4 people at a table wth) After we got our order which was for my friend dumplings, salad and chips. What I got is the second option of fried rice and crispy calamari, It took more than 10 minutes to cook the food which was hell for us since we haven’t eaten in like 3 hours. When we got the food it looked ok till we had some. First of all the dumplings tasted like spoiled fish and chicken stuffing, and the sales was not fresh and the rice was mushy, the calamari was very very stretchy it almost felt like your eating rubber. The only think which was good is the chips. We got free ice-cream at the end though but over all...
