Wanted to post, as this place left an impression that I was in Fawlty Towers, This place is very highly rated, suspiciously so and we decided to dine in after a film, the resturant is narrow and bright for 10PM and the tables are cramped, and decor extremely dated. Not to judge a book by it's cover we sat down and ordered 2 mains, Onion Bahjis & 2 Naan. The mains both had simerlar issues, bland flavor and sickly sweet. The first dish, Paneer Narangi had a strong flavor of uncondensed soup, and lacked any spice or salt. The second was the Chicken Korma Khash which also had a simerlar sweetened flavor, and again lacked spiced, though it claimed the chicken was cooked in a tandoor and there was saffron in the dish. The onion bahjis were not crispy and dense and flowery in the middle, overall the food was pretty poor and not worth half of their asking price. The main issue I had with the experience was the reaction of the staff, we left the majority of the food and when we were asked why? We politely said it's not to our taste, what followed was nothing less than an Interrogation from the staff, our server proceeded to tell us that the dishes we chose were the most popular and that he was sorry we weren't satisfied, he asked was there anything they could do, and I suggested that if he removed a main, I would appreicate it, (I did so thanks to the server). Afterwards I went to pay the remainder of the bill, in excess of 50EUR, and the manager asked if I enjoyed the food, (A loaded question) still I didn't bite and said it was fine. He then told me that I should've asked what type of food to get. I reacted that I didn't have a issue with what I ordered, I believed the food was of low quality and didn't eat it, I then asked if I could pay the bill. This was ignored and I was told that if I never had "authentic indian cuisine", I shouldn't have came in, I responded that it was a "rude and incorrect assumption, and I consider myself traveled enough to recognized if food is of low quality", I then asked for my bill again to which it was ignored, I was then asked for SPECIFIC countries where I have eaten in a indian resturant. I laughed as his insecurities from the opinion of myself, left himself ignorant to the fact that he had to defend the quality of the food loudly, in front of other staff and customers. He finally gave me the bill and told me when I return, to ask for recommendations, to which I replied "I don't...
Read moreWhat an absolute let down from Mayur. We drove 30 minutes each way to pick up our takeaway because we’d had a lovely sit-down meal here a few weeks ago, but this time was beyond disappointing. The staff were rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful when I collected the food, not even a smile or basic courtesy. And then the food itself… honestly, it was dreadful. The chicken tikka masala tasted nothing like it should, it was basically tomato/minestrone soup with a bit of spice dumped in. Disgusting, in all honesty. The popadoms were stale, the naan was so undercooked it may as well have been raw, and the whole meal felt like a lazy, thrown together afterthought. After spending time and money making a special trip, we’re left feeling angry, disappointed, and ripped off. Definitely not worth the drive, and certainly not worth the price. We won’t be...
Read moreFirst of all I found the waiter a bit unfriendly. We walked in at just after 10pm the sign on the fooor said open till 23.30. He said “we close at eleven” I said if you can serve us before then we can eat it no problem” he looked like he’d just caught me in bed with his wife. The food itself was average at best. I got butter chicken my wife and son got tikka masala and when it came they were 100% all the same and they all tasted like tomato soup. The chicken which we all had had the consistency of stewing steak even though it definitely was chicken. The garlic naan was very nice, the place itself is nice. I’m writing this Sunday morning and none of us are ill or anything so I wouldn’t necessarily put anyone off going I just wouldn’t go again myself but given I’m not local that really won’t...
