I was freezing when we sat down and the waitress was very nice to offer to bring me hot water in a glass for me to be warming my hands up a bit. Very nice touch. We went to order and both me and my husband went for pan fried duck breast. The menu made it sound so amazing but when we asked about it it turned out it wasn’t duck breast really and it wasn’t even pan fried but roasted in an oven at 5pm. Not what the menu stated and defiantly did not sound appetizing once clarified. So we went for pasta carbonara and penne something with Italian sausage and tomato sauce. Food was fine for the price you pay. I wouldn’t say it was Italian but again for €11 you are not gonna get fresh pasta or freshly made sauce from scratch. We shared tiramisu for dessert- definitely not authentic, again did not expect authentic. When paying I allowed myself to mention that the tiramisu had taken the smell of the fridge. The owner lady came out and to my surprise told me I am being disrespectful to the chef. Now again I tried to explain I’m not complaining just wanted to let the chef know to try it and see that it has taken a fridge smell when tasting it. She went on how this was not nice what I was saying. You should be able to take constructive criticism and be polite with your customers and definitely do not say they are disrespectful because they just paid. Other then that it...
Read moreWe went in around 7:30pm on Friday and it was really busy. We didn’t make a reservation because we didn’t know that it will be busy that night, literally at full capacity!
They asked if we wanted to be seated only for an hour because a group has reserved the same table for 8:30. We agreed to it as all places in town that day are full.
We were kind of rushed on getting our orders for that reason and that’s totally understandable. Since our orders were prioritized first, we got our food pretty quickly. After we finished our mains, we were told that we can stay as much as we want on the restaurant since a big group had left and they will use that table to seat the reserved group.
The pasta is filling and has good amount of seafood. The calzone is definitely good for shareable, it has a lots of fillings. The marinara came with it was fridge cold, wished it was warm.
So, we were glad and we can enjoy our time and ordered dessert as well. Their desserts are delicious especially the panna cotta. The tiramisu is not bad either, although I’ve tasted better.
I wanted to commend the whole team (back and front of house) for great service they gave that night! Would...
Read moreI am a closet foodie. Frequent traveler lover of life. We came to il pomodoro for dinner because it was close to our hotel. We came a second night because it was amazing! Naomi, Mila, Val & Olga are absolutely over the top when it comes to customer service, efficiency, excellent attitude. Their professionalism shines above and beyond most dining experiences. My hat's off too everyone in the kitchen as well. Night one, we ordered the caprese salad, vegetable side, shrimp risotto and fettuccine carbonara. Over the top delicious! I really felt like I was in Italy, and I've been there several times. We loved it so much, we came back night two. Order the lamb chops, caprese salad, calamari and salmon dinner. This place screams excellence. I have never met so many nice, hard working people in one space in my life. My background is in hotel and restaurant management and this is exactly what you hope to produce. Thank you so much everybody at the il pomodoro For your graciousness, delicious food, professionalism and that wonderful shot of limoncello at the end. We wish we had room for dessert!...
