Kellas — Restaurant in Port Saint Mary

I would love to say kellas is 5* but unfortunately the service was incredibly poor. I booked kellas a little over a month in advance for my sisters hen night. I was told they can do a cheese board for our table as they had not finished their menu which I was more than happy with, a few weeks before the night they contacted me to say they were going to host a bbq the same day as our hen night but that they would move us upstairs with no other changes which I was more than happy with. Upon arrival we were told we would be getting table service so we don’t have to keep going downstairs to order, however this was very short lived we had table service once throughout the entire night and not a single staff member even came to check how our night was going. One of the waitresses said they were also not doing any platters/boards due to the bbq being on which I was very unhappy about as this was not mentioned to my previously and to then say she doesn’t think there is anything left anyway her attitude was awful not a single smile out of her she was incredibly miserable and did not appear to want to be doing her job. So me and a couple of our friends had to go across the road to the co op to buy snacks for the table. After hours of no service and constantly going up and down stairs to place orders one of the ladies in our group had enough and went down to ask for pen and paper to take one order and she was shocked to find the majority of staff stood behind the bar doing nothing and they didn’t even offer to come up and take the order for us!! On top of this we asked why there was no service for us and they then decided we weren’t entitled to table service due to the bbq (which at this point was no longer even on). We didn’t let this ruin our evening but I would never book any event with them again due to how rude and incompetent the staff were. We’ve had a lovely parent’s joint 90th Birthday Celebration at Kellers. Catering for 40ish people with a very tasteful buffet: salmon, roasted ham, quiche, couscous salad plus plenty of extra tasty bits. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the food and all went back for more! Becki and her staff were so welcoming, the service couldn’t have been more attentive, nothing was too much trouble. I’m sure we will definitely be returning to dine in the future. Lovely addition to Port St Mary, but sadly the customer service isn’t great. I’ve been to Kella’s 3 times now in hope that things might have changed, but unfortunately this wasn’t the case. When asking about the cake flavours/ pastries my reply was “I don’t know, buy it and you’ll find out”. Once buying and trying the cake, it turned out to be stale and hard which was very disappointing.
