Vellika's — Restaurant in Ramsey

Firstly I would say that the food was excellent. Genuinely good Indian food. The reason it only gets three stars is down to the rather unfriendly way we were greeted, and the slightly slow service. I'm sure both of these were due to lack of staff because of covid, and so I fully understand the delays, but the lack of friendliness was not really acceptable. I'm pretty sure things will be different in the future, so I will amend the rating at a later date. And, yes, I will go back, as the food was that good. Edit. I went back a couple of weeks ago and found that not much has changed. The food is still good (although the portions might disappoint a lot of people) but the service is terrible. This little newly established restaurant really is a genuine diamond. We were looking for Asian food towards the end of our celebratory night out and found Chingan's (Vellika's) in the heart of Ramsey. What a first class choice!! We've truly never tasted either prawn or lamb pan-asian food like this, it's on another level. Every element of our dishes from starter dips to main meals had such wonderful unique flavours and infusions never tasted before and was quite unexpected in many ways but was equally greatly appreciated. We ate here this week. It is a very welcoming place and the staff were very friendly. The food was superb and I would strongly recommend this place. I asked for advice on what they had that was similar to what I normally order. It wasn't on the menu, but they said they would make it anyway for me.

The only thing stopping it being a 5 star was the portions. They are very reasonable but we ordered the pickle tray for three and it seemed very light. There were only around 4 poppadoms.
