We came back to Roza in August 2024 with our son and college-age grandson. This is a pleasant family restaurant, with table sizes to accommodate all sizes of families, and a menu that suits children, the elderly and everyone in between. The restaurant is always busy, so reservations are a good idea.
The business lunch is available from 12 to 17:30, or you can order from the full menu, which is available all day. My grandson and I ordered a business lunch, and my wife and son shared one between them. There are upgrades available on the business lunch menu, with choices of higher-level starters and mains, but we were quite happy with the 79-shekel basic lunch menu.
My grandson and I each had the soup of day (tomato) as a starter. This was a warm, thick, homemade soup. My grandson was quite satisfied, but I would have been happier if it had been a bit spicier. My wife had the eggplant Baladi, which is a whole roasted eggplant with tahini. We all shared a bit of that – it is a tasty vegetarian all-natural dish.
My son and I each had a hamburger with fries. The staff was very careful to make sure that we each got the configuration and doneness that we had ordered. (Can you hear “hold the pickle, hold the lettuce”?) The burgers were quite good and filling. I had a glass of Polaner beer from the tap, which was cool and refreshing. Our grandson had the focaccia with asado, with lots of crumbled slow-cooked meat on top. Looked good, and he was happy.
We shared two deserts, a pistachio tart (too sweet for the adults, but the college boy liked it), and a concoction of sesame cookies and halva for the adults. Both came with non-dairy vanilla ice cream, which was a decent approximation of...
Read moreWe went to Roza for a celebratory dinner tonight. We have been to this restaurant a number of times since it opened. It has always been good, but in the last year or so, the owners have really taken it up a few notches. The food is high quality and delicious and portions are generous. The atmosphere is very pleasant, clean, well lit and comfortably air conditioner. The service is excellent. Our waitress was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. We drink a lot of water, when we asked for a refill, she brought two bottles with a smile. It was such a nice touch. Often we find ourselves chasing down a waiter for a drink. We met the owner, Chen, when he was walking through the restaurant making sure all his patrons were satisfied with the food and service. He is lovely and it is clear he is passionate about providing a fine dining experience that was lacking in Modiin for many years. He recently invested in a Party room. When he pointed it out we saw there was a party going on. We were surprised as a private party can often affect the atmosphere and service in a restaurant. Highly recommended for a celebration, special occasion or date night. Not pictured: Assad focaccia - don't miss it! Liver pate, and Creme Brule...
Read moreA good place for a special meal. We went for someone coming from far away and it was a treat. We were nine people and got a free desert. The staff was really nice and friendly, service was fast and pleasant. Definitely will go here again. It looks like a nice place to go out on a date, the wine is nice and not too expensive, the place is very chill. There is a wait sometimes, so it's best to order a seat ahead of time. I ordered the grilled pargiot, it came with a nice amount of spiced rice and some half baked tomatoes. The plating looked beautiful and the food did not disappoint. In addition we ordered some steaks and other meat dishes. All of them were well plated and cooked nicely. Desert was a nice treat. They had a peanut butter chocolate cake which was a bit overwhelming with peanut butter, to my taste. A vanilla ice cream with halva and techina on top. The dish was nicely plated and the reviews between us differed. For me it was something very different, that can only be served in Israel. The halva added a note touch to the other wise bland vanilla. All in all it was a great experience, with good food and...
