Ristorante Babà du Lac — Restaurant in Abbadia Lariana

If you want to eat at a delicious place coming here is of course a must! However, with the views this location has and its gorgeous environment, that's brownie points!

When we arrived it was too early for dinner. We had been sun bathing by the lake and accidentally skipped lunch so when 6 o clock hit we were starving. Of course, in Italy you will not find any dinner spots open before 7pm. The owner was so kind to still have us and other families come in and relax on the rooftop terrace with the breathtaking views of the lake.

We decided if we couldn't eat yet we would drink! So we had a delicious aperol spritz and a Moscow mule and that came with a little appetizer which we weren't expecting on the house! The mood is set, the views are amazing, our drinks were fire, what else could be more perfect? Their actual food! We loved it outside so much so we had a romantic lake view dinner with some house wine. I can't express how amazing this place was and how much we loved it!

We had a eggplant parmigiana appetizer which was to die for! For dinner, we decided to go for their forno alla legna pizza since it's one of their specialties. A few tables nearby were having the risotto of the house which looked amazing. We pretty much ate with our eyes when we said we were going to order a bunch of stuff but we stopped at pizza. Sadly, we will have to come back and try everything else on the menu next time! So it's the perfect excuse to come back to the lake and this...

Unfortunately our dietary preferences were not honoured.

Reading good reviews, We went here for dining. We ordered gnocchi, gialla margarita pizza and ravioli (mushroom) in the meal. Being vegetarian, We ordered vegetarian options from the menu and strictly specified to the waitress that we do not want meat or fish in any dish to be extra careful. The ravioli served to us had red meat, completely unaware, my mom (who was vegetarian all her life) already ate two bites before realising it had meat. We complaint to the waitress and she apologised. However our dinner mood was completely spoiled and we couldn’t finish everything happily. The restaurent charged us the full amount except for ravioli. Since my mom wasn’t feeling quite well after eating the food, I went back to the restaurent and spoke to the restaurant owner and explained him the issue. The restaurant owner realised the mistake in the communication between the waitress and the chef. He sincerely apologies and retuned the full amount. I really hope such mistakes are not repeated in the future and restaurant staff has learnt the lesson.

While I understand this can happen but at the first instance the restaurant staff wasn’t trained to understand the seriousness of this issue.

For future visitors, I just want to you inform that pls be aware and double check if there is something in the food that you don’t eat!

[RUDE, PUSHY STAFF - GOOD FOOD - SPOILED SMALL DETAILS: AT THE SITTING WALL COVERS THE VIEW, LACK OF TABLE NAPKIN ] Yesterday, we decided to eat a dessert and drink coffee before our train comes, and charge our phones, so we went to this restaurant. At the entrance, a waiter said, they have only placed indoor, which was absolutely suited to us, because we wanted to charge our devices, so we kindly asked him a table with an electric connection. In a quite rude style, he led us to a table, where there was no electricity, so I had to ask again, and a more arrogant style we finally got a table with one place to charge, but he said we can sit here only for 5 minutes (!) because this table is booked (in normal places, they recommend to charge our phone at the bar, while we are eating). After we ordered our dessert, the other waiter was pushy, why are we only ordering dessert. Finally, I had to ask a table napkin, because they did not give us and we got a CREASY...
