Ristorante Il Vicolo — Restaurant in Abbadia Lariana

Hands down the best food we had in Italy.

For the appetizer we chose the 3 types of fish caught from the lake to share. Each has a different taste and they were delicious. For the main course, I chose the schnitzel with potatoes and my boyfriend chose the beef with rucola and cheese. OH MY GOD. First of all, the schitzel was enormous, I believe 2 people could have easily been satisfied. Second of all, it was so light, so sweet, so buttery, it literally melted in your mouth. The potatoes were also delicous, really well roasted, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Now, the main event... the beef. I almost never eat beef because I don't like it and it upsets my stomach, but this one was to die for. I would say it was rare, but it was incredible. Sweet and flavourful, it was well seasoned and smoky. Together with the cheese and rucola it made the best combination. I was so sad I didn't order that for myself as well. For dessert we had tiramisu (as the waiter's recommendation) and a ricotta tart with pear. The tiramisu was amazing - sweet, lightly textured and with the perfect zing of coffee. However, that tart was unforgettable. It was so rich in flavour and yet so light!

We had dinner. It was great. Food: 5 Service: 5 The person in charge was rather abrupt, but we had a great time and the rest of the staff was really kind. The next day (been so happy with our dinner) we went for lunch. That was a mistake. Food: 1 (worst lunch I ever had in Italy) Service: 1 (the friendly staff we met the previous evening was not serving, what a pity) It is very sad for a restaurant so good, not to be able to offer the similar quality when they serve an expensive dinner or a budget work lunch. We had way better lunch in less fancy restaurants in the area. I was about to give 5 stars, but what a disappointment the next day. I still recommend it for dinner. Avoid lunch, and you will keep the nice experience. Personally I will not visit again. Although I will miss the lovely dinner, I really felt offended by the attitude and the food...

Il Vicolo is a very good small restaurant located in Abbadia Lariana across the railway climbing a little bit on the narrow street of the town. The place is shared in two rooms one on the right of the entrance and another one more internal. I had a very good lunch here. On the day they have a variable menu of three first , second and side courses you can choose your combo of first ,second and side. The food quality is high , the staff is professional and nice to the customer. The price are good too and the owner , the big guy, is very friendly. I recommend this place is you are close to...
