A Mixed Experience at Mama Sea—Saved by the View and Pizza We recently dined at Mama Sea and had a mixed experience that started off a little disappointing but thankfully ended on a better note. We began our evening with an aperitif, priced at €12 per person. While the drinks themselves were enjoyable, the accompanying snacks left much to be desired. We were served a handful of standard peanuts, olives, and what could only be described as the bottom of a crushed chip packet. For the price, we expected at least a fresh, presentable selection—something a little more thoughtful and appetizing. Unfortunately, this fell short and gave the impression of cutting corners, which was not the best first impression. However, the evening took a turn for the better when the pizza arrived. It was well-prepared, tasty, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The quality of the pizza helped redeem the experience, along with the stunning view that Mama Sea offers—easily one of the restaurant's strongest assets. With a bit more care in presentation and value when it comes to the aperitif service, Mama Sea has the potential to truly shine. For now, I’d say come for the view and stay for the pizza—but maybe think twice about the aperitif unless improvements are made.

I visited this restaurant while staying at the Sheraton Hotel, which is conveniently located just across the road. The atmosphere is cozy, and they offer a wide selection of dishes, including an impressive variety of pizzas. Prices are quite high, but reflects the quality of the food. I tried the gourmet pizza with swordfish and burrata, and it was absolutely delicious—one of the tastiest pizzas I’ve ever had! The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was excellent. If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

"Pizza of a la carte" was de vraag.

We had dinner here twice in a row when staying at a nearby hotel. Both times we went for pizza. The menu offers a wide selection of other dishes as well, specializing in seafood and fish, but the pizzas caught our attention. Many of the pizzas have quite creative and unique topping combinations that I haven’t seen elsewhere and that show culinary innovativeness. All the pizzas we had were delicious and came with excellent, fresh ingredients and a stand-out airy and light dough. My highlight was the Cetara pizza (fior di latte mozzarella, Cetara anchovies, semi-dry datterino tomatoes, EVO oil, capers, chilli pepper filaments, lemon peel), where the different elements harmonized well flavor- and texture-wise and which had overall also a strong visual appeal. This was definitely one of the best pizzas I’ve had, including in different places in Italy, and the pizzaolo(s) are certainly to be commended and praised. We also had the cannoli siciliani for dessert the first evening we went and didn’t regret our choice. The service is not overly friendly but does their job professionally, so no complaints in that department and we were...
