Trattoria Porto Nuovo — Restaurant in Aci Castello

We're a group of Portuguese Teachers on Erasmus in Sicily, and it was unanimous among us, that this is one of the best restaurants in all Eastern Sicily. The food was marvellous and the staff was fantastic (in particular the Argentinian server that was amazing with us). The view to the little port of Acitrezza was a postcard of Sicily itself. The service was professional, paying attention to all details and really friendly staff. We went there twice and if we could back again, we would, for sure! Servers and food were good on Monday night. The manager (I assume) visited all tables except ours. Not sure why. We were 2 senior years couples looking for atmosphere and good food. When the manage delivered our check he was absolutely rude….no pleasantries, no words, no smile …nothing; he just slapped the bill curtly at me, ran the bill through his portable register and slapped the receipt down and walked away. We felt like he didn’t like us or want us there….like we were an inconvenience! And there were not that many people there. He put a huge damper on our evening. Will never go...
