To anyone looking for a cute and enjoyable place to have dinner in Argegno, La Piazzetta is NOT the place. Our waiter forgot to put in our order for 30 minutes. And then apologized in a nonchalant manner. Further, once our delayed dinner arrived, so to did a rain storm. The waitstaff stood by as we grabbed our food and moved further under the overhang to avoid getting soaked and having our meals turn into rain soup. After 3 minutes of us struggle to find coverage, a waiter told us "the rain is almost finished - sit" -- ignoring the fact that rain water was running down a dirty umbrella on to our food. Finally the maitre de came and asked if we wanted to move inside -- yes, dinner saved! Only that wasn't the case. The waitstaff was rude and aggressive for the rest of our dinner. Slamming items down with no words or acknowledgement, all but forgetting us -- the customers who upset them by asking to move out of the rain? In total the dinner was ruined. The food was fine (nothing special enough to overcome the atrocious service). We paid the bill and left in bad attitudes feeling like we did something wrong by asking to not be rained on. Would...
Read moreWe ate here twice on our holiday in Argegno; once was a fantastic takeaway pizza as we were foolish enough to think we could just turn up - make sure you book. Take away worked really well as we were with our 2 month old son so ate on a bench looking out at Lake Como.
So we booked for a future meal and it was equally delicious but even more impressive as the staff are so incredibly helpful. They were great with our baby son; keeping him entertained and were so welcoming. In fact there were many families eating out here so a really traditional Italian family vibe to the place. The wine that was recommended was amazing and perfect with our meal - lots of veggie & seafood options.
The restaurant is situated on the Piazza Roma which has a beautiful fountain in the middle & to be honest you can get lost in people watching and soaking up the very relaxed atmosphere. This was our favourite place we...
Read moreI'm not someone to leave negative reviews, however, my experience at La Piazzetta deserves to be mentioned. My son and I arrived and waited for a table. We were ignored by all staff, to the point where we felt awkward standing there. A group of college age girls arrived and waited behind us. A staff member came over and addressed the girls and told them he should be able to find them a seat shortly despite having no reservation. Then, he looked at us and said, "One moment please." After a few moments, he seated the girls and we were left standing there for an extended period of time. In fact, so much time passed that we left. My advice? If deciding to give patronage to this establishment, make sure to look your BEST... you might not be seated/greeted if you don't meet the owner's approval on appearance. Instead of dinning a La Piazzetta, we dinned at La Corte and had a...
