Terrazza Paradiso di Giacomo Pelfini — Restaurant in Arona

We went to this restaurant for apericena a couple of weeks ago. Whilst the location is excellent with lovely views over the lake, the service was terrible. When we arrived we had to stand in a queue waiting to be taken to our seat. Our friends had already arrived, so eventually came to get us themselves. But probably the worst aspect of this disastrous evening was our rude and spiteful waiter. It all seemed to go wrong when he seemed to take offence when I ordered a cocktail that he told me didn’t exist. I pointed it out to him on the menu, and tried to make light of his mistake. Unfortunately, his damaged ego just couldn’t handle it. The punishment was a service that was absolutely dire. The waiter was surly throughout the entire evening. He aggressively collected items from the table, by this I mean in order to avoid being elbowed in the face I had to lean right over to one side. He wouldn’t say “excuse me” or collect things from a place where there was more space. slow service (we had to wait 45 minutes for our second round of drinks) food was served without plates, a pizza for 6 was cut into 8 huge slices, but fortunately a friend had to use his penknife to cut it up into slices better adapted for an apericena. We received a recommendation from our hotel about the restaurant. It is on the mountain overlooking the lake. Driving on a steep and narrow road. Large adjacent parking lot. The upper part is a bar and from there you go down to the restaurant. There are places inside, we sat in the huge yard with the whole lake spread out in front of us. Amazing view, nice atmosphere. Il nostro recente aperitivo in questo locale è stato un’esperienza che ci ha lasciati un po’ sorpresi — e non in senso positivo. L’atmosfera era piacevole e il servizio, a prima vista, cordiale. Tuttavia, c’è stato un dettaglio importante che ha reso l’esperienza poco soddisfacente: non ci è mai stato mostrato il menù, né ci è stato chiesto se avessimo bisogno di consultarlo.

Abbiamo ordinato i nostri drink e qualche stuzzichino senza avere idea di cosa aspettarci in termini di prezzo, fidandoci del fatto che fosse un luogo accogliente e trasparente. Il vero shock è arrivato al momento del conto: una cifra decisamente sproporzionata rispetto a quanto offerto e senza nessuna spiegazione o giustificazione valida.

Un’esperienza che sarebbe potuta essere gradevole si è trasformata in una delusione a causa della mancanza di trasparenza. Consigliamo di fare attenzione e, se decidete di fermarvi, di richiedere il menù prima di ordinare, per evitare spiacevoli sorprese.
