La Mencia — Restaurant in Asciano

Here is a little gem to visit, in what seems like a deserted little town, Asciano. We walked many times and noticed La Mencia empty, either it's too early for us Australians or the place doesn't have a good reputation. We were wrong on both accounts, walking through the empty restaurant opened up to a beautiful outdoor dining with lots of guests. Here is where you find where the true experience of La Mencia starts. Il servizio era inesistente, ma il mangiare era buono. Avevamo delle aspettative altissime dato tutti gli anni ricorrenti che "Le Routarde" (libro guida francese rinominato) ha raccomandato questo ristorante. Ad ogni scambio di parole la nostra cameriera si faceva ripetere TUTTO con un "come?". Avevano un tavolo grande all interno, ma questo non toglie che c'erano tante cameriere per i tavoli che c'erano e sembrava che tutto fosse eseguito in coppia.. abbiamo solo ordinato un piatto a testa, ma in qualche modo diamo stati dentro seduti più di due ore. La cameriera ha ovviamente preso un dei nostro ordini sbagliato e quindi mia sorelle ci guardava mangiare per ben 20 minuti prima di ricevere il suo di piatto. Non abbiamo MAI sentito un "scusa", e volevano pure toglierci i piatti prima che mia sorella potesse ricevere il suo piatto e mangiare. Finite le bollicine che avevamo ordinato (Ca' del Bosco, mica un prosecchino dove non fanno margine), arrivato il conto.. neanche un gesto per chiedere scusa e offrire qualcosa. Abbiamo dovuto chiedere noi di non pagare la sua pasta che è arrivata con ben 20 minuti di ritardo. Non è il fatto di non pagare, anzi... è proprio il fatto che dal momento che c'è stato l'errore non abbiamo mai sentito una scusa né ci trattavano come uno si aspettava. Il team del servizio era pieno di ragazzine giovani e quindi senza esperienza. Spero che questo commento aiuti il proprietario a rendersi conto che la formazione è essenziale, specialmente per continuare ad aver riconoscimento da guide e intenditori.. perché diciamolo.. il paesino dove siete è ben piccolo con poche attrazioni, sarebbe un peccato perdere...
