After visiting the villa at MasarĂŠ I was looking for somewhere to have dinner and found this osteria not far off in Asolo.

Let me start by saying that Asolo is listed among Italy's most beautiful villages so visiting is a must. But then entering Osteria al Bacaro you're very much transported back in time. Filled with antiquities, and an interior design that reflects a long-gone era, I couldn't wait to dine. Staff is welcoming and friendly as I waited for dinner service to start I ordered a spritz with some cicchetti. The menu offers authentic regional cuisine. I opted for gnocchi with mozzarella affumicata a generous serving and very delicious and as a second course I had coniglio (rabbit) e polenta, again a generous portion perfectly cooked. But the star of the meal for me was the Prosecco. Fair enough that these are the Prosecco hills but this is THE BEST glass of Prosecco I have ever had in my life, and I say that as someone born and bred in Veneto, so I had more than my fair share of Prosecco. It was so, so, so crisp and smooth, chilled to the perfect temperature... I could have easily had more. Sadly as I had to drive later, I could not have more. Next time I'll come with someone else driving and I will drink to my heart's content. Worth coming here just for...

(Scam? See explanation below) So, food tasted great to us (as foreigners), gnocchis were very soft, definitely home made, and the panacotta was delicious. HOWEVER, the waitress literally scammed us by charging us tap water the price of two beer bottles (8 euros). Also, deserts were 4 euros on the menus instead we payed 5 euros each. When politely asked the waitress about the tap water that we made sure BEFORE it was from tap and free of charge, she mumbled an “explanation” (= saying again, that it was from the tap), when we asked about the desserts price, she said “they haven’t updated the prices on the menu”. In the end, and after being insistant and her (apparently) being very annoyed with us, she refunded us the “tap water/beer” but not the price difference of...

Provo a mangiarlo. Voglio verificare bene. Ragazzi!!! STATE VOI A TAVOLA CON UN PIATTO CHE EMANA ODORE DI PESCE MARCIO. toglimelo!
