Panificio Montecristo — Restaurant in Bari

my friends from bari insisted i had to try this focaccia. in their words, nothing else even comes close. obviously i was curious.

we went late in the evening, almost at closing time, and the place was still packed. long queue inside, people sitting outside on the patio with their slices, and we only found a table because a family got up just as we arrived.

the queue moved fast, but since it was late there wasn’t the full assortment left. still, the focaccia was coming out fresh from the oven, hot and irresistible. i grabbed some panzerotti too. one cacio e pepe and one with “strong ricotta.” they were tasty, but very watery (which i guess is the point) and not totally my thing.

but the focaccia… wow. crispy and slightly charred at the bottom and edges, yet soft inside. the tomatoes on top were bursting with flavor. i was so glad i ordered two pieces, because one would’ve never been enough. safe to say my friends were right. and i’ll...

We had a late breakfast here. It is located near the beach and they have a few tables outside, so you can eat there (which is a plus). You can pay by card and you have to queue a bit (even if it was the end of september, so just a couple of tourists like us). We liked better the slim foccaccia than the other one and of course, panzerotti which were very very good. They don't serve coffee...

Panificio ubicato a San Giorgio frazione di Torre a Mare. Prodotti tipici Pugliesi salati e dolci come pizze di ogni tipo, focacce baresi o alte. Panzerotti di carne , di mozzarella o di tonno. Calzone di cipolla detto anche pizza di cipolla. Sandwich artigianali, taralli fatti da loro con diversi gusti .... tipo anice, sesamo, cipolla, multicereali ecc. Pane rigorosamente di semola buonissimo che si mantiene a lungo con tutta la sua fragranza. Commesse molto disponibili e accoglienti. Vista la grande affluenza è disponibile il numero per poter essere serviti. All'esterno del panificio nell'area privata dello stesso c'è un gruppoiardinetto con tavolini e sedie attrezzato per consumare ciò che si compra. Usciti da quest'area si è direttamente sulla provinciale a ridosso del mare... favoloso, bello profumatissimo, fatto di sassi/scogli di colore blu e verde scuro cangiante. Solito problema è dove parcheggiare...
