It was not my first time at this rifugio, but I must admit this time I wasn't as pleased as the others. The location is obviously incredible - in the middle of nature, and with easy access to the trails. Rooms are plain, but clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves good local food. ||||However - breakfast is beyond basic. I had asked for some lactose free options upon making reservations and found none (other than bread, that is). ||||The thing that left us puzzled, however, was the packed lunch. I am pretty sure there must have been a misunderstanding of some sort, because we were given a whole bread roll, a piece of Sardinian style salami, a piece of pecorino cheese, some fruit and some unpealed carrots. I suppose they assumed we'd have knives to slice the salami (but traveling from abroad by plane, we can't carry knives with us), and a carrot peeler - or else I can't explain why they gave us a whole chunk of it? I just wonder why we were not asked if we had a knife, or why they didn't specify not only what the lunch included but also the form in which it was served? ||||It's a pity, it could have been an amazing experience but the services somehow...

Read moreIl Refugio is runned by a Cooperative. They are having a farm and a restaurant and offering guided tours. It is in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of Su Golgo. The most famous day trip is to Cala Goloritze. An amazing 2 hours walk (one way). Wear proper shoes and bring enough water (no spring or possibility to buy water on the way).||Beside the main building with a reception, some rooms and the restaurant is a Campground and some little huts to rent. There are clean sanitary facilities with hot water. The restaurant offers traditional dishes which cost about 55€ for a menue for two with vine.||The staff is very friendly and helpfull although nobody is speaking English (only French and Italian) but communication was somehow still possible.||In this area is only one other restaurant (don't mix it up) and a new Camping. No other facilities, supermarkets, busses... Just plain dry land with wild pigs, cows and donkeys.||We were on a hikking tour along the cost and the mountains were the second last overnight stop. We were lucky to see the traditional festival of San Pietro (a little church there) at the last...
