We travelled to Merano after Christmas to visit some of my partner's family who live there. All the hotels in Merano were only doing 5-day packages over the Christmas/New Year period so we were recommended a room at the Gstor resort in Lagundo. We were surprised how close Lagundo was to Merano itself, no more than a short five minute drive away. When we arrived on the Saturday afternoon we were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist and after checking in we were offered welcome drinks of prosecco in tall glasses, very nice! :-) The hotel consisted of several buildings and levels, we were in the Dependence Töllerhoff part in room 15. The room was quite small and with a sloping roof over the bed and also in the bathroom. We were only staying for one night so this was not a problem, the bed was exceedingly comfortable, with lovely soft duvets and pillows zzzzzzzz. Having a shower in the morning proved a bit of a challenge for my partner who is TALLER than average, as the sloping roof in the bathroom made it difficult for him to stand upright, which he was not too pleased with! There was no shower gel or lotion in the bathroom for guests, just a small piece of hand soap, so bring your own toiletries. Breakfast in the morning was an extensive buffet with a very good choice of fruits, cheeses, cold cuts, breads, cakes and rolls, yoghurts, muselis, nuts etc. I like boiled eggs for breakfast when staying in hotels but unfortunately the two I took had not been cooked properly and could not be eaten, a pity as I hate to waste food. Everything else at breakfast was fine though but I did not see much staff about, just one lady serving teas or coffees. The hotel seemed to be full with quite a few families with small children. Strange with a green Christmas in this part of the world, the view from our balcony toward the mountains behind the hotel was not very Seasonal! We can recommend this hotel to those seeking good quality accommodation at a reasonable price in a nice area and...

Read moreLocation is great in a pretty village. Stayed for 2 nights. Room was on "1st Floor" ( actually the second floor), was quite basic, but was comfortable enough. It had a balcony overlooking the street, and we weren't bothered by noise. There is an elevator/lift but it only serves the top levels so you still have to carry your bags up 2 flights of stairs to get to the lift.||There is no allocated drop off parking outside the hotel so you either park illegally for a few minutes, or carry your bags 100 metres up the road from the hotel car park.||||Receptionist was helpful enough giving us maps and locality information and the free travel card . But seems they get very few English speaking guests so all printed information is in Italian & German. Makes it a bit difficult to sort out the hotel restaurants and services offered.||The beer garden is nice and the gardens above at the rear of the hotel are pleasant.||Breakfast was quite good with nice selection of cheese and meat, and eggs cooked to order. But the croissants wrapped in plastic were not at all good. ||We ate at the in-house pizzeria restaurant one night; food was average and service was very poor. They didn't deliver my second beer but managed to charge it to the bill without any problem.||Bit disappointing overall, we expected better as the price is...
