A place not to be missed! We had lunch at Da Sassi at the recommendation of local friends who live near Cagli. We were the only foreign visitors in the restaurant, and we were immediately charmed by the owner who served us. Food was delicious. To begin we shared a superbly flavorful pincinelle-a local sourdough pasta specialty-with sausage and artichokes. The portion was large enough for the two of us. We each then had tagliata—thinly sliced, grilled beef with a light chimichurri sauce—generous portions that could have also been easily shared along with a side of sautéed green vegetables. We shared a panna cotta topped with chocolate sauce, one of the best I have ever had. Service was warm, helpful, and full of good humor even with our broken Italian. Prices were inexpensive, a bargain compared to food of this quality in North America. When we were paying at the bar, we were greeted like family, even amongst some workers who were also paying their bill at the same time and enjoying a post-lunch beer. Read moreEravamo 4 amici e ci siamo fermati qui perché era per strada.Abbiamo ordinato 2 antipasti ne è arrivato 1, per di più le pietanze non avevano sapore e/o se lo avevano non era gradevole. Poi abbiamo preso 3 pizze e un "raviolo con porcini" ( così era scritto sul menu, per poi scoprire che il ripieno era ricotta e spinaci. Il quale non era specificato nel menu e per tanto non piacondomi ho lasciato tutto. Sul menu era scritto "ravioli ai porcini' ma se il ripieno è diverso dovrebbe essere scritto.) In più non sapevano di niente.L'impasto della pizza era al 100% congelato in quanto le pizze erano tutte perfettamente rotonde e dello stesso spessore e il sapore era da classico impasto congelato. Successivamente abbiamo preso una panna cotta al cioccolato o meglio topping al cioccolato che anche questo non sapeva di nulla. Camerieri cordiali ma incompetenti abbiamo ordinato 2 antipasti ce n'è arrivato solo 1, dovevamo chiedere la pannacotta sono spariti dalla sala per 10 minuti.
