We went to the Calamosca restaurant to enjoy a special evening. The location and the view are really beautiful. There is a good selection of food and drinks. The cuisine is okay, but can't keep up with the restaurant's presentation and prices. Neither can the service. Unfortunately, there were some mistakes in our order so that neither all four people had their food at the same time, nor did the ordered sides arrive at the same time as the main course. It was claimed that we had ordered incorrectly, although two out of four people got their food on time. When we repeatedly asked where the other dishes were, we were put off and told that they would be "coming soon". It took half an eternity for four people to get their food. The waiter was very unfriendly and made us feel very bad and blamed us for this mistake. Meanwhile the food was cold. The waiter then took only one Plate with him to have it remade in the kitchen. In the end, he came back 10 minutes later with the old plate!!!! and said it wouldn't work and we should continue eating. That is an absolute no go! The waitress who then took over our table didn't make the situation any better either. We had the feeling that we were not being taken seriously and the arrogant manner of the waiter provoked the whole thing. At the end of the evening, we‘ve paid the bill without any comments and asked for the manager to give him feedback on our evening. We were then told why we were complaining, as we had already paid?! This shows that the actual problem was not understood. Unfortunately, there was no insight, no apology but the feeling that we were not being taken seriously. We were in no way interested in getting a coffee on the house or a refund, but simply in having a nice evening in a pleasant atmosphere and letting them know if an expectation had not been met. Unfortunately, a storm broke out during our meal, and that’s when the problems began. We had to quickly get up with our glasses and water bottle, standing crammed with other customers from the terrace, without any immediate solution offered by the staff. Eventually, we were seated inside, at a table against a wall in a non-air-conditioned room where the temperature was around 28 degrees. We were told it would be “just for a few minutes,” but we ended up waiting over 20 minutes before anyone came to check if everything was alright.
Meanwhile, the restaurant continued welcoming new customers outside on the semi-covered terrace, completely neglecting those of us who had been moved inside.
The moment of paying the bill was equally disappointing. The owner presented the bill without any apology for the inconvenience. When we tried to explain our dissatisfaction, we were cut off, and he didn’t even take the time to listen. We still asked for a goodwill gesture for the inconveniences we faced. After a tense discussion, he agreed but limited the gesture to just 9 euros on an 88-euro bill, which amounted to the price of a dessert being offered. This seemed quite inadequate given the situation.
The owner’s behavior, including banging his fist on the table as he reprinted the bill, was particularly shocking and inappropriate.
In summary, despite the beautiful setting and the quality of the dishes, our experience was ruined by poor management of the situation and a clear lack of consideration from the staff, especially the owner. We hope our experience helps others make an...
Read moreFor the first time after visiting a restaurant, I had such unpleasant sensations. We booked a table via the Internet and hoped that the restaurant would be quite interesting and crowded, but apart from us and two more tables it was completely empty. The kitchen in the restaurant did not surprise us. It was not disgusting, but this is clearly not the kind of place you want to return to again. But the service left disgusting memories. As soon as we sat down at the table, the staff began to examine us, discuss, and throughout the evening we noticed how they were looking at us and mocking us. Perhaps they were so surprised by my long black evening dress or red lipstick, perhaps they very rarely see beautiful people. But in our couple there was absolutely nothing remarkable from which one could laugh. In general, this is the first time I see such inappropriate behavior. We are not the first time in Italy and have never encountered such boorish behavior. At the end of dinner, the staff was not even too lazy to go out to the backyard to see what kind of car we were getting into.
