This review is my sweet revenge on Dubai. After wrapping up at the convention center, still energized from a successful business meeting, we decided to take a random walk through the towering glass jungle of business skyscrapers and luxury hotels. No destination, no expectations - just letting the city guide us. And then, we spotted it: elegant outdoor tables, well-dressed Arab guests, and almost no foreigners in sight (at least, judging by outfits). That was it - the magnet that pulled us in.
At first, we weren’t quite sure what kind of place we had stumbled into. “European,” said the waiter in pigeon-English. Ah-ha! Now it all made sense - a fine European dining experience, tailored for local clientele. Of course, we had to try it. After all, this should feel like home, right?
Now, if there’s one thing this region knows how to do, it’s creating a five-star restaurant experience. But. Yeah, there’s a but.
I come from a region where white truffle is sacred. It’s a staple in my home, my family, and my culture. And the secret? Simplicity. It’s not about drowning it in sauce, piling on truffle shavings like a status symbol, or making it thick and heavy. It’s about the delicate balance of fresh pasta, butter, and just enough truffle to let it shine. And let me tell you - nobody in that kitchen has ever truly experienced real truffle. They missed the point entirely.
So, my dear Arab friends, if this is your reference point for authentic European fine dining, you’ve been faked.
But here’s the thing - I have never eaten this dish in a more visually stunning, well-designed, and carefully curated space than this. Despite the truffle crime, the atmosphere alone earns five stars. Style, effort, and a solid attempt.
And here we hit another overkill moment. When it comes to grilled fish, less is more. It doesn’t need to look picture-perfect, it just needs to taste perfect. When you over-grill fish, it becomes just another dry, overcooked disappointment. A beautifully plated disappointment, but a disappointment nonetheless. Lesson still not learned. But again - this restaurant still gets five stars for its sheer ambiance, presentation, and service.
Finally, perfection. Maybe because Middle Eastern sweets often surpass most European desserts (except French pastry, let’s be real - that’s a different league). Everything we tried was flawless, well-balanced, and genuinely satisfying.
GAF is a five-star experience, but not because of authenticity - it’s a masterpiece of elegance, atmosphere, and hospitality. If you want a picture-perfect version of European cuisine, this place nails it. If you want the real deal, well… come visit me in truffle season...
Read moreThe best authentic Turin cuisine experience in the region, EVER!! The owner is a MasterChef finalist, and the quality of the food shows. I had the Taglialini Ragu, a lime tequila martini, and Tiramisu. I’ve never in my life had a meat sauce of this impecable quality. The cocktail was something outside of this world - prepared with a level of sophistication unseen elsewhere. This restaurant is an absolute must visit for everyone looking to experience authentic and exquisite regional food of Italy’s most noble city....
29€ a testa.
