Rosmarino - Trattoria di Mare — Restaurant in Capaccio Paestum

We have been in touch with them in order to organize a small dinner gathering before our friend's marriage. We have spoken on the phone several times and normally, we have arranged everything: a reservation at the restaurant for 12 people and a cake at the end of the dinner accompanied by 2 bottles of spumante that will be paid separately... The first surprise was that the restaurant was closed, when we arrived. The second surprise was that there wasn't a specific place for our 12 guests. The third surprise was that the lady-cashier that night decided that she will make a "bargain" arrangement without telling us, so she was telling everyone that the bride's sister will pay for everyone's cocktails.. As a result, many people left without paying their drinks, leaving us with a huge bill to pay. Awful service, bad attitude, better to choose another place by the sea, especially if you don't speak Italian, because noone speaks English or another language or -even better- they pretend they don't...

The best dinner I recall.

Definitely the best place to eat fresh local fish in the area if not the whole region! The food is great, you have a large choice of delicious raw fish, like sushi, tartare, oysters, mussels and all you can desire. The chef has really chosen to put seafood at the center of each course. The atmosphere is great and very classy, both over lunchtime and dinner, the service flawless. Rosmarino is also a perfect venue to spend some quality time after dinner or lunch, sipping your favourite drink prepared by exceptional bartenders, surrounded by lovely live music played by talented artists or selected by seasoned deejays. If you happen to spend a few days in Paestum or Campania in general, I guarantee you won’t regret one or more stops at Rosmarino, to invite your loved ones or simply yourself enjoying a wonderful time and valuable memories. I wanted to go here since a long time. The place has a great vibe and certainly a great choice on the seafront of Paestum. I only gave 4 points for following reasons: I was very disappointed of the squid and calamar skewer, which was tiny and only one small calamari ring; they added a vegetable side plate which was good but the total price of the dish then was 34€. This dish should be a starter. Service was friendly but confused. They also poured a new wine in the same glass as the previous different wine, then giving me my husband 's glass and viceversa since they mixed it up. Finally at the bar they took twice cover charge for an ice cream in a give away cup. In summary a nice experience but they need to work on some points in order to get to the level they strive for in relation to the prices. Caprese and seabass...
