We are three friends and we arrived at Mom around 930. We were told they couldn't offer us food because they didn't have a table "where food could be served". But they would let us order a bottle of wine at a high table. So we ordered a bottle of wine and asked to be moved to a table when one became available. We asked the waitress for chips or nuts while we waited and were informed "this is not bar hours". Between 930 and 1030, three tables left and were cleaned. We tried to flag any of the four servers down to move tables during the hour, but they never came. When I got up to find someone and speak to someone, I was informed that the kitchen was closing in an hour so they couldn't serve us. I clarified that we had been waiting for an hour for a table, and now the kitchen has to close an hour before the restaurant? HORRIBLE SERVICE! Do not waste your money here. I was honestly appalled about how rude, dismissive, and inattentive the servers were here. Congrats on the worst service I've ever...
Read moreAcross the way from this newer place, Bar de Ledo was there forever in Lacona. By the look of the sign, I would imagine that it had been there way before I ever came to the island of Elba. We have been including it in our tour of the island for a little over a decade. Our daughter would swim in the incredibly shallow waters in front and we would enjoy an apertivo (late afternoon drinks). Anyhow, no more, it's closed. We went there last year in June. Never before had I noticed the place across the way, Mom Food Drink & Soul, so we had our apertivo there before the restaurant opened. The mojitos were just as good as the ones we used to dig at Ledo. They came with tortilla chips and salsa, the combination of which is almost unheard of in Italy. I also got into some of the mix of soul classics and hip-hop they were playing. And the bathroom wasn't the melancholy bar bathroom I'm used to in Italy, but a clean new one. Maybe, next time we will check out...
Read moreWe visited on two separate evenings. On the first evening, we were told we couldn’t get a table because we only wanted to have drinks. When we returned the next day for dinner, the experience was unfortunately quite disappointing.
It took about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order, even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy and there were around five staff members on the floor.
The food was underwhelming: the “hamburger” consisted of just a single meat patty—no bun, no tomatoes, no pickles, no sauce. Honestly, I was shocked. That’s not what I would consider a hamburger. The baked potatoes were cold, and the small portion of iceberg lettuce came without any dressing. Overall, it was a very small portion for an adult, especially considering the €16 price tag.
The drinks were fine, and the tiramisu was actually quite good. Still, the long wait times and the disappointing meal unfortunately left a...
