La Tavernetta del Baldo — Restaurant in Caprino Veronese

We went last night, as we've read good things about the place. And the location is absolutely gorgeous; and the service is welcoming and feels very genuine.

I totally forgot to take pictures of the food, but here's what we had. As a starter we ordered polenta with seasonal mushrooms and cheese shavings. It was good, but very light on the seasoning. The polenta could've use a bit of salt.

For the main course, I chose deer all'Amerone gulasch with polenta, and my wife the tagliata with oven potatoes.

I had really expected a deep and flavorful gulasch, especially with the added Amarone, but it was sadly bland. It had caraway seeds/kümmel, that were a bit overpowering and the dish lacked depth. Portion was also not impressive; my wife got a serving of potatoes that got served in the same size bowl, plus the beef. I also had a few pieces of beef and that was indeed good; tender and well prepared.

I did order a piece of cheesecake to finish with as admittedly, even with more than half a shared starter and a secondi, plus half of my wife's meat, which like mentioned earlier, was very generous. We paid a...

The tavernetta del Baldo is a real gem, using authentic locally produced food which is well adapted to local traditional dishes & is extremely delicious!!!!! Their menu & wine list is extensive.

In our party we had the tagliere as antipasti which was sliced meats & locally produced cheeses, followed by canederli (dumplings) tagliata di manzo (sliced steak) & dessert cheesecake - all was cooked/made to perfection & DELICIOUS!

Really nice place 👌 in front of beautiful mountains. Foods are amazing. We really love it. It's really really delicious. We ate gnocchi (kind of pastamade from potatoes ), polenta with beef ,bistecca di maiale (pork steak),polenta with brasato (brassato : beef made with red wine) . The dessert was awesome. We bought cheese cake with marmellata(jame). It's really Mouth watering. Specially i have to say ,The staff ❤️. They are amazing. Really friendly people. They are so lovely people.
