Visited “La locanda della Giare” on the 19th of August 2021. First impressions were very good indeed. Excellent location, very nice interior. I had the “Crudo di Mare” (see picture) as a starter, 25euro, which as can be seen from the picture was abundant. Shame that when I cut the octopus-polpo, a whole lot of brown substance came out. Basically they were not rinsed properly. The oysters were soft and gooey (beyond what you can expect from an oyster) and made me worry about their freshness. But luckily I did not suffer any consequences. The mussels – Cozze were so small, see picture, that we decided to leave them, since they were not worth eating. The staff explained that they arrived so small, so there was nothing they could do. Showing, a couple of days later, a picture to a cook from another restaurant, he commented that these were cooked earlier and reheated before serving. Not very pleasant to hear this when you are dining next to the sea. Reheated food?

Read moreThis used to be one of our favourite restaurants - what has happened? New owners - food combinations quite weird but to be fair the presentation is good. This is our second visit under the new ownership and we will probably not go back. Some of the waiting staff are excellent, others find it difficult to take the order! Food generally disappointing, although the paccheri and prawns was definitely the best. Would not recommend the octopus and the tuna was also a disappointment. The tiramisu had a strange crunchy topping and the trio of chocolate was just chocolate coated balls of flavourless cream. It has definitely lost its appeal but as always the location and decor are great, it’s just the rest that didn’t live up...
Read moreIeri sera sono tornata a mangiare una pizza in un locale dove ero già stata altre volte. In passato mi ero sempre trovata bene e ogni volta mi serviva un cameriere di nome Ivan, molto gentile, preparato e capace di consigliare al meglio.
Purtroppo, questa volta sono rimasta delusa. Ho ordinato una margherita con patate e, quando mi è arrivata la pizza, le patate erano immangiabili, con un sapore di vecchio. Ho chiesto al proprietario se fossero state fritte al momento o riscaldate, e lui mi ha risposto che le friggono all’inizio della serata e poi le riscaldano sulla pizza perché durante il servizio non hanno tempo di friggere. Vorrei sottolineare che il locale era praticamente vuoto, con solo due tavoli occupati, cosa che rende la spiegazione poco credibile. Quando ho fatto notare che non mi era mai capitato, il proprietario ha semplicemente detto: “da noi si usa così”.
Ritengo che se questa fosse la prassi, il cliente dovrebbe esserne informato al momento dell’ordinazione per decidere se procedere o meno. Alla fine ho tolto tutte le patate dalla pizza e ho provato a mangiare la margherita, che però era altrettanto deludente: l’impasto era gommoso, difficile da masticare.
Inoltre, quando ho pagato il conto, mi è stata addebitata come pizza con patate, non come semplice margherita. Peccato, perché fino a ieri il locale mi aveva sempre lasciato un’ottima impressione. Non ci...
